This will be the first time I’ve rooted for Bama since Sabans arrival. Well, I think I’ll be rooting for them, but once I turn the TV on the heart wants what it wants.

Totally agree. The better the teams do the better the whole conference is.

I don't pull for anu other team. I just watch and enjoy. Whoever wins, doesnt effect LSU at all.

2019 LSU is making a claim as GOAT. If the SEC can dominate in bowls it strengthens that argument. Other than that for this year, frick all the SEC programs.

I will pull for Auburn and UGA. I cannot pull for bama and bama losing 3 games in one year actually helps LSU, IMO.
SEC can finish 7-2 if we win the NC and AU/UGA win today. Bama can be that #2 loss which wont hurt the SEC image-wise at all.

So far this season the SEC is 4-1 in bowl games with Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M and LSU winning and Miss State losing. Alabama, Auburn and Georgia play in high profile matchups today, the Alabama Michigan game being one I want to watch.
There is a reason we should pull for SEC teams beyond conference pride. While there is no perfect way to prove which conference is best, bowl games provide the best barometer by pitting top teams from all the conferences against each other. Morethan conference pride is on the line, these games help determine which conferences playoff committee voters will favor next year and in years to come.
There are five major conferences and the other conferences want the committee to look at conference champions. This year, had LSU lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game, conference champions from the Big 12 and Pac conferences would have likely stayed home in favor of two SEC teams going, Georgia and LSU. That’s because, despite what coaches in other conferences say and think, knowledgeable people on the committee know the SEC is better and that a third place SEC team could win most other conferences. Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Auburn were all better teams than Oklahoma.
So we do not want the SEC to have a losing bowl record and give the committee fuel to believe the argument others advance that the other conferences are catching the SEC. I think if we go to an 8 team playoff guaranteeing a spot for the five conference champions, as it stands now the SEC would get 3 of the 8 spots and we do not want that to change.
It’s great to say LSU doesn’t need that because we won’t lose games in the future, but more realistic to think undefeated seasons in the SEC are rare.
So I will be pulling for Bama, Auburn and Ga to win today. As much as I hate Bama, i don’t want to hear Big 10 fans crowing if Michigan beats Bama, the SEC flagship team of the last decade up until this year. And, if possible, Harbaugh is a bigger dick than Saban, with a lot less reason to be.
Related to your post, several Football analyst such as Tebow on SECNetwork and SEC footprint media such as Josh Pate at Late Kick, and even Alabama media guys at WJOX in Birmingham and 100.9 in Tuscaloosa Tide fans have said LSU at 15-0 can make a claim for best team and season in modern college football.
With Florida winning the ORgange, they are 11-2. So if UGA, Bama and Auburn all win they will finish top 10 along with Florida. OU at 12-2 will finish top 10 and Clemson, again if LSU wins will be #2. LSU could then have 6 wins over the "Final AP/Coaches Poll top 10". That would be something that I am not sure has ever been done.

careful -- the "you can never root for another SEC team" tards will be coming after you.

In most every game, I'm pulling for one team or the other. Not nearly with as much emotion as LSU, but it's pretty boring to watch a game with no rooting interest at all.

Same. LSU is going for the best season in college football history.

There are members of the committee with connections to other conferences. They will use any possible argument they can to push that the other conferences have caught the SEC, bowl games too. Why is that such an outrageous thought that invites a frick you post?
Because it's ridiculous to think that winning the Citrus Bowl would be a logical argument to put 11-1 Michigan into the playoff over a team that played for (and maybe even won) the National Championship.

We recruit against bama every day of every year. Every loss they have is better for us. Don’t be stupid. Don’t pull for bama.

worse, he seems to think Michigan winning the Citrus Bowl could help Ohio State or Penn State next year where as Alabama losing it could hurt LSU or UGA

Geaux Big Blue! I hope the other 2 SEC teams win though.

I always pull for SEC teams. Even Bama in the natty’s we weren’t in.
If the conference is good it’s good for LSU. Better recruits, better talent, more respect nationwide.
I hope every SEC team wins their bowl games

I know this is a controversial topic, but I'm an SEC homer. I may hate the other teams during the year, but I want the SEC (especially the West) to represent in the bowl season). The better SEC teams do overall the better our argument that the SEC us the best and LSUs wins are more important than any other conference champs wins.

It is sad that you have to spell that out for some folks

You are taking it out of context.
I do believe if Minnesota and Michigan sweep Auburn and Alabama people will use this to claim the Big 10 has caught the SEC. In turn, I think that makes it harder for a second SEC team to make the playoffs.
Had LSU lost to Ga this year they would probably still have gotten in over two one loss conference champions because the committee gives so much weight to the SEC schedule.
I don’t see that as some wild or crazy theory. You can book it people everywhere outside the south would use Auburn and Alabama losses today to argue the SEC is not a dominant conference.

The SEC has taken 7 of the 24 (29%) playoff spots in the first 6 years of the CFP (8-4 record, 3 teams). The ACC is next with 6 (6-3, 2 teams). The BIG has 4 (2-3, 2 teams).
Again, if your hypothetical were to occur (11-1 Michigan and LSU), you really think they are leaving LSU out if they look at this year's results like you keep suggesting?
