The Bryce Underwood Effect

Posted by Goose on 11/9/25 at 10:44 am
I think this team and the playbook were built around Underwood as the starting QB. When Michigan came in with their big bid and got his commitment, Kelly and the staff went into damage control big time. What we have seen this season is the culmination of putting all your eggs in one basket. Nuss has been running an offense (for better or worse) not designed for an immobile gun slinger. To be fair, I like a pocket passer but you must have some mobility in the modern game (especially with an online like ours).
He has one of the best offenses in the nation… just needs a good DC
1. Kiffin
2. Riley
3. Surprise candidate if one or both burn us.

I like Caden Durham as a rotation back.

How is this not the Berry show by now… he looks so much more explosive on his carries…
Malzahn, Riley and Kiffin all have Top 10 offenses this season… 2 of the 3 young enough to recruit and figure out NIL etc…
Malzahn?
Mullen?
Kiffin?
Riley?

Not a lot of big names out there who would leave their successful jobs for LSU. Lanning? Day? Smart?

Not going to happen

We used to bitch about our QBs not taking shots down field... honestly, they weren't all great but at least they were letting him sling it. Definitely felt better than Les Miles 2 yards and a cloud of dust... or bubble screens x infinitey.

Where is Demetrius Hookfin?
Uhhhh ever heard of John Corbello... sheesh

How is it an experiment if he has been the short stop all year?

He's talking about shifting he and Dugas when a lefty is at the plate b/c Thompson has struggled playing 2nd situationally.
Drops us significantly in all time wins if true.

That can definitely be percieved nationally as a knock on a storied program.
He has helped with several double plays...and made several throws to first with mustard on them... if anything Dugas throwing like a girl is a bigger issue.

I'm okay with Thompson slumping...that's baseball... but Dugas playing with a nagging shoulder issue is a bigger liability.

I think Thompson is definitely due to have some timely hits and may just zero to hero tonight (would love to see it).
Definitely called all of these moments... frustrating to watch a poorly managed game. Reminded me of Harsin's repeated bad calls against us last week.

David Cutcliffe

I know he is old, but his sage wisdom coaching Walker could really help him develop and Cutcliffe is likely to want to stay in football but take a less stressful position.

He'd probably take QB coach / analyst position
Still have Raymond and Faulk...Im sure we will be fine...
