I think Alamo Dome *is* considered their field these days.

when they first started playing there the deal was that they were going to build their own stadium. Guess that didn’t work out.

Huh I had seats in right field for many years at Turner and never felt this way. Loved my view and the ease of getting to my seats. Was it just an upper deck thing? I only sat up there once and don’t really remember it.

What’s going on in the end zone here? Are those bathrooms or something else?

The Long Island pic shows the side with the press box, presumably the “big” side.

State just announced they’re building a baseball stadium on the site of Fulton County Stadium next door to Turner Field. They’ll shift it slightly to leave up the Hank Aaron memorial there.

These are better 1st week matchups than last year:

Last year's thread showed a lot more high school stadiums in week 1 opponents.

We play a top 5 team and you (and the majority of SEC teams) do not play a single OOC teams that will sniff the top 25.

We had several P4 OOC teams cancel on us forcing us to go do a deal with whomever was available. Nobody wants to play Ole Miss OOC because Oxford is hot as shite and we have been pretty damn good lately. I mean we were supposed to play USC home and home in 2025 and 2026 but they backed out.

It was the upper deck. It was not only bad it was also dangerous. Truist is a vast improvement as bad as I wanted to hate it because its in Smyrna LOL.

It holds 6,000 people...so they could fit more people if they came to Knoxville and played in the Lindsey Nelson Baseball Stadium.

If USC backed out that sucks but let’s be real, your last 10 years you played FSU in 2016 and Georgia tech a few years ago.

Other than that you haven’t attempted to schedule a top OOC opponent and the majority of the SEC operates the same way.

It’s honestly amazing the SEC has gotten away with it for years including the week 8-9 where everyone in conference plays nobodies.

My daughter had a gymnastics meet at Illinois State in the building that is attached to the old side of the stadium (top in photo). It is an old field house that is still in use. We lost track of our son (he was probably about 12 or 13 at the time) - I found him sitting in the old football press box playing some game on his phone. To access the press box you simply climbed to the top of the field house bleachers, then up a very narrow stairway. Pretty cool old structure - was like stepping back in time, but still a crummy stadium.

Also play FSU, Miami and USF.

Was supposed to be an all Florida year, but Florida A&M backed out. Not sure there's some huge difference in the replacement other than we don't get to see the FAMU band.

Tennessee has become such a bitch school in terms of their out of conference scheduling. A bunch of directional schools and one boring, weak, shitty “Power Five” opponent.

Syracuse
NC State
Virginia
Pitt
Georgia Tech
BYU

USM has a nice stadium. Capacity is only 38K but not a bad seat in the place. A very fan friendly stadium. I have been to quite a number of games there over the years.
We did a two for one deal with them so I don’t mind playing a game there this year. Especially the first game of the year.
Should be a fun atmosphere.

Florida….seriously?

We opened with Miami last year and Utah in 2023 and 2022. For some reason the Miami game this year is week 4.
And let us know when Arkansas stops being scared of playing 2 P4 OOC in the same year.

Because our 8 conference games are typically harder than any 8 games of any other P4 conference. I would love to play Northwestern and Rutgers every year. The average B1G power team only has 3 to 4 difficult games a year.

At least Long Island doesn't have track lanes circling the field like Charleston Southern. That is as high school as you can get.
