I’d say that it’s a bit of both of what you and twk are saying. My opinion, but we could’ve and should’ve had our shite together. And yes, neither Missouri or Arkansas want a fake rivalry. Closing the season against Texas would be mayhem and make a truckload of money for all parties involved every year.

I’m honestly very disappointed that we aren’t on that list.
I concur from our point of view, in my opinion. Don't give a shite that one of our annual games is also a P5 in our rival. Give me a 9-game conference schedule.

It should be 10 conference games a year at minimum. An all SEC schedule was the bright spot of 2020.
If I had a vote, I'd prefer all games be conference, but 10 is good to allow continued rivalry games outside the conference like South Carolina-Clemson and Alabama-Southern Miss.

Those that voted for 9 games without ESPN paying for a 9th game need to go to the business schools of those that voted against. The votes had nothing to do with being scared of anyone. It is about ESPN getting a freebie!

And we all know you think Bama is two way rivalry. I love how all the LSU fans are saying, oh A&M is a made up rival, a forced rival, we don’t care. Well, now you know how Bama feels. LSU was forced down our throat by CBS. We have rivalries already with two other schools. Having worked in Baton Rouge I couldn’t believe how that game was talked about year round there. It’s talked about the week of in Alabama. No Bama fan cares whether it stays or not. We care about the other two. Being “tied” to Bama makes you feel important, makes you feel that if you are tied to the bluest of blue bloods then you are amoung the all time elite. I wanted the 9 game schedule so we didn’t lose UT. If it meant LSU being on the schedule to keep the 3rd Saturday then so be it but playing LSU is no more meaningful to me than playing ole miss.
Holy shite can you be any bigger of a douche bag?
We care about the game because y’all are the highest ranked opponent on our schedule every year, period. Nobody cares who it is that we beat as long as they’re someone that help us accomplish our goal of getting to the sec championship

Don't be so modest. The nation has to be clamoring for the great border war between Mizzou vs Kansas. A time when the winner knew if he was getting to 6 wins for the season he had to have this one.

I think the schools that voted no did so to slow the process down and take a longer look at things. Those that voted no also have more than one rival. Take a good look at things and negotiate with ESPN as to the $$$$. This year ESPN is only paying for 8 yet some wants to give money away for a 9th.
Example: Georgia plays both WLOCP and DSOR this year. If we went to one perm this year... who of the two drops off? Tickets have already been sold, schedules made, etc.
This is to intricate to make a quick decision sitting on the beach in Destin. It all started with trying to bring Texas and Oklahoma in early. The no votes are simply saying.... slow down and giving time for the new additions to have official input and make sure we are taken care of financially with the respect of rivalries. But let's face it, all of us are going to lose one rivalry.

Saban called the LSU game a rivalry. Blame him.

Now, you can argue that the quality of those 8 games will result in more money for ESPN than what they are giving up in quantity, but that's not a given. For every big game among the 8, there is probably at least one "meh" game.
they dont want to give espn more inventory without espn giving us more money.

Coach Saban has called every team in the West a rival. A divisional rival. Nothing historical about the swamplands.

The most ironic thing I've seen is watching Tennessee and Auburn fans complain about how Saban always gets what he wants after the vote was announced.

But, you are right that adding OU and Texas did change the equation, because, before they came along, we were going to get rid of divisions and play a 3/5 schedule. Yes, there still would have been people bitching about the 3 permanent rivals (unless Saban ended up with Vandy as one of his), but it would have gone down a lot easier.

If this upsets you, why were you guys so eager to bring in Texas and OU? That decision set off a chain reaction that looks worse every day.

I think the particular problem for Alabama was that they were going to hammer them down with ratings darlings that were not competitively balanced with other schedules. That's going to happen when almost every conference team has a wikipedia page called the [Team Name Here] - Alabama Rivalry. Playing Alabama puts eyeballs on the TV sets, so Alabama is going to get the raw deal in maximizing television value.
It's a 12 team playoff. With what Kirby has scheduled OOC in the upcoming seasons (not this next onedue to the OU cancel), I guarantee you he wouldn't care if Tennessee, Florida and Auburn were our three. He knows he will make a 12 team playoff. I really don't understand Saban's grief here. Unless it's the close calls and losses over the last two years wearing him down.

So you are in favor of just giving ESPN that 9th game for free?

I want 9. 4-4 and one neutral site.
