I’m honestly very disappointed that we aren’t on that list.

If we went to 9 games your piggies wouldn’t be able to play in the autozone liberty bowl

Thanks I hadn’t heard. It’s almost like this thread hasn’t been started 4 times a day for how many ever days it’s been known now.

I’m glad we voted against since it pisses everyone off so much.

As a fan there are usually 1 or 2 OOC games that suck arse. Spread is 35+. Get rid of one of these and play another conference game.

Does it make sense from a revenue standpoint? As a fan, it makes great sense. For some schools… maybe not. In all for a 9 game conference schedule.

I think the particular problem for Alabama was that they were going to hammer them down with ratings darlings that were not competitively balanced with other schedules. That's going to happen when almost every conference team has a wikipedia page called the [Team Name Here] - Alabama Rivalry. Playing Alabama puts eyeballs on the TV sets, so Alabama is going to get the raw deal in maximizing television value.

And we all know you think Bama is two way rivalry. I love how all the LSU fans are saying, oh A&M is a made up rival, a forced rival, we don’t care. Well, now you know how Bama feels. LSU was forced down our throat by CBS. We have rivalries already with two other schools. Having worked in Baton Rouge I couldn’t believe how that game was talked about year round there. It’s talked about the week of in Alabama. No Bama fan cares whether it stays or not. We care about the other two. Being “tied” to Bama makes you feel important, makes you feel that if you are tied to the bluest of blue bloods then you are amoung the all time elite. I wanted the 9 game schedule so we didn’t lose UT. If it meant LSU being on the schedule to keep the 3rd Saturday then so be it but playing LSU is no more meaningful to me than playing ole miss.

Furthermore, I have no problem in engaging in this kind of talk now while still at the top because we all know Alabama is going to take a step back to the pack when Saban hangs em up.

I don't want Alabama getting an every year schedule that only the GOAT could navigate when we're probably going to have a Stallings (if we're lucky) or Dubose (if we're not) type follow up to the GOAT.

You know that game isn’t going away even if we play 10 conference games.

Who knows if this is true or the intricacies of why, but this is a really weak look for Saban. He keeps moving the goal posts on his own arguments. He positions himself as this leader of the future of football, saying he wants 9 games, then 10 games, then all games to be P5. And yet when its time to step up and lead he starts whining that Bama would get AU, Tenn, and LSU (which Bama fans want) and then crying further that Bama has already scheduled 2 P5 non-con games in future seasons and it wont be fair unless everyone else does the same. Makes Bama look weak as shite at a time when UGA is already making us look like we are declining.

This whole fiasco is a bad look for the SEC. One of the few times we have ever acted from a position of fear of the future rather than strength in leading for progress.

I want the 9 game schedule for these two reasons:

You play every team home and away within a 4 year window and it keeps the yearly, precious rivalries intact that certain schools say they need.

It shouldn’t even be a fricking vote because someone will always choose an easier path.

I think he wants to play more games but the administration does not for the reasons I stated above. Saban doesn't give a shite if we play 9 or 10 because he believes he could find a way to win enough to get where he wants to be. I think our administration is looking at what the program will be after him and doesn't want us playing all or nearly all of the historical top 6 programs with somebody a cut below the GOAT. He's still just an employee at the end of the day and he can't litigate his disagreements externally...he's saying the company line.

8 other schools besides Alabama voted against the schedule change and I bet a handful of the yes votes would have flipped if it was a closer vote.

Alabama is just being used as a cover here for a plan presented by the SEC administration that was roundly unpopular.
