Best SEC road trip is to Lexington in the Fall, especially October and the horses are running at Keeneland

Saw an unfortunate license plate at the country club the other day:

KY DERBY

Either they love horse races, or lube.

High proof, charred wood flavored alcohol is clearly the best thing about Kentucky.

beautiful land, cornfields, and bourbon
Visited for the first time in January. Made the hour drive north from Nashville for the day to tour a bourbon distillery... was probably the best part of that trip. Best bourbon I've ever tasted.

Drove through Kentucky once on the way to Nashville. Stopped at this restaurant that had the best meringue pie and served bread in flower pots. It was pretty cool.

Their fans are a sexy, classy bunch from what I've seen of them.

I felt poorer than someone getting evicted from a trailer in Phenix City, AL the last time I went to Lexington.

You went to Patti's in Grand Rivers. Did you get the 2" pork chop?

This is basically a meme from one of the posters on another site.

Is it really that good?

Yep...Lynx nailed it above. That's Patti's out there by Land Between The Lakes. Whole state knows about it. Yes, the pork chop is legendary.

Still....Western Kentucky is very different from the Bluegrass. Bourbon, horses, basketball, women. ...thats the greater area around Lexington.

Eastern Kentucky is Bluegrass, mountain folks, blue people, coal mines, pills and meth, beautiful scenery, etc.
