His league gets almost twice the viewers of the Big 10 and he managed to negotiate less revenue and locked them out of negotiations for 10 years while the Big 10 gets to re-up in 2030.

Just a collasal error that doesn't get talked about enough

This board doesn’t listen to sankey hate because he’s fighting with LSU which they love.

Someone is going to get left out the postseason after playing a gauntlet schedule for less money, and then maybe they’ll wake up.

You are truly retarded. Everyone wants him gone, due to the media deal and him being a sheep on the 9th game.

ETA: I’m also of the opinion he bungled the LSU deal badly but in the grand scheme of things that’s an insignificant one-off mistake. We will all be paying the price for the media deal and the pointless 9th game…for decades. Both significantly benefited the BIG. Now he just needs to seal the deal on being the only conference that makes transfers sit a year and we will have the trifecta. Jesus Christ, the more I think about it he might actually be a BIG plant.

i have mentioned this in a number of posts and got zero response. the man is a failure.

and the son of a bitch isn't through costing the SEC money. he's got at least one suit over non complying with a court order and i can tell you that LSU has and is considering sueing the shite out of him. we don't want to sue the SEC tho. however, we may have to.

People must not understand this was ~400 million dollar mistake in a time where your athletic departments are starved for revenue streams

I also find it interesting that hes a carpet bagging New Yorker from community college. At this point im unconvinced hes not a BiG 10 plant sent to ruin the SEC

Makes you wonder if the LSU stuff is a diversion or just actual incompetence on the part of the conference.

I would probably believe stuff like this as well if I was an unhinged LSU fan.

This is a more recent trend. From 2021 through 2023, ratings among the leagues were almost equal.

SEC vs. B1G viewership was virtually even before the SEC/ESPN deal. SEC did not have the leverage to command a better deal than the B1G. SEC chose to sell its better product wholesale to ESPN, while B1G commanded more by selling its watered down inventory in pieces to various networks.

SEC is currently kicking the B1G's in ratings because of Sankey. Bringing in Texas and Oklahoma. Showing SEC on ABC all day. The 9 game conference schedule which gives ESPN way more top shelf games to work with.

Sure, this is what makes the length of the agreement egregious

I could try to debate the various points and our arguments, but we both know you won't because you can't.

There's not many options out there. You have:

- ESPN/ABC
- FOX
- CBS
- NBC (but not really)

That's it. CBS decided to make a play for the B1G, basically said "no" to the SEC and it's been a ratings disaster for them. That really leaves FOX vs ESPN/ABC since NBC doesn't seem interested to enter into the college market other than Notre Dame home games.

In other words, the B1G is benefitting from a terrible business decision by CBS. So unless you can convince FOX to outbid ESPN, you're kind of going to get what you get.

I don't know what you're trying to say here. But the contract ends in 2034 because it was convenient to align it with the already-existing ESPN/SEC Network 20-year contract which also ends in 2034.

The chest-thumping fans of marginal programs who told us that we had to man up are now going to be crying about their three loss team being shut out of the playoffs.

Again, the CFP has been very open about not wanting a three loss team to win the national championship.

The eight extra conference losses pretty much screw two SEC programs out of a slot.

I can’t debate it because it’s just an irrefutable fact that Sankey engineered the LSU drama as smokescreen due to his shitty media? You’re basically implying it can’t be proven so we just have to accept the conspiracy at face value, because that’s what emo message board LSU fans believe?

Never change, LSU fans

You dont understand how renegotiating sooner would allow the sec to take advantage of the 9 game schedule and ratings boost earlier?

Currently, we're 8 years away from the SEC seeing any meaningful adjustment for what was a pretty giant concession (9 game schedule)

I agree with you that the SEC's contract is too long to take advantage of all of Sankey's great decisions.

But SEC will likely force ESPN to renegotiate at the same time as the B1G's next round or risk the SEC going in a different direction in 2034.

Per Sports Illustrated and Google:

The Big Ten made more from its television and media rights deals than the SEC last year.

• Big Ten Media Revenue: The Big Ten generated approximately $1.37 billion in media revenue and distributed an average full-share payout of about $76.1 million to $79.9 million per school, driven by its multi-partner network agreements with Fox, CBS, and NBC.
• SEC Media Revenue: The SEC generated about $1.11 billion in total conference revenue (with an average distribution of roughly $72.4 million per school) backed by its exclusive television deal with ESPN/ABC.

Sankey is a dumbass for sure. But if any LSU fan has a problem with him you mfers should call your governor your senators and anyone else who will listen and tell them you want to voluntarily leave the conference. Get off your asses grow a pair and quit whining on the rant.

Voluntarily leave the conference or shut the hell up.

You're an idiot.

People like me have been banging on about how terrible he's been for years and get downvoted for it.

Your entire fanbase are idiots because you keep obsessing about Sankey but that guy is just a puppet for the B1G and tennessee-UGA.

Your actual issues should be pointed at rocky top and those fake humble bulldawgs who are the ones trying to kill your university off.

LSU fan here...

1. F*ck Greg Sankey

2. Give me a twelve game SEC schedule. No SEC fan wants to watch his/her team play a cupcake. It's a waste of a weekend.

3. Use the original BCS formula to pick the playoff teams, whether that's twelve teams or twenty-four teams.

4. F*ck Greg Sankey
