I will take this as fact LSU has the number one defense.

Not buying 91%. Syracuse has challenged Clemson the last 2 years going 1-1. Clemson on the road vs a team that plays them well.

If CU takes their eyes off the ball, it's a game that may surprise them... again.

Kentucky isn't a tossup. I'm sorry but it isn't unless they play a WR at QB.

Yea - the biggest thing we have going that S&P can't really account for is we basically add 2 veteran NFL guys (Diggs, Lewis) at our 2 biggest struggle points from last year : outside pass rush and corner back.

If those guys were calculated in I'm guessing we'd be somewhere around #5 or so.

But yea, it's not absurd at all to have LSU #1. Great group.

Bill Connelly, the S&P+ guy, recently left SB Nation for ESPN.

Am I the only one who feels like this is decidedly worse? ESPN has generally pretty shite online content for college football... SB Nation, while not perfect, with Bill Connelly really had a pretty good thing going.

My guess is the behemoth that is ESPN ends up stifling Connelly more than he's able to get them to truly evolve in their coverage... meaning a net loss for CFB nerds like us. Hopefully I'm wrong.

LSU will never win the SEC again. Nick Saban will never stop coaching Bama. Clemson's beat down was a fluke.

There. You can rest easier now, comrade.

Offense (SEC Avg : #20.9)

#8 - Florida

I like to be cautiously optimistic, but this marthafaulker has lost his mind if he thinks UF will have a top 10 offense after losing 4 starters on the line. We weren't close to top 10 last season and I would love it if our offense is as good in 2019 as it was in 2018.

I may be wrong, but the last 10 years has forced me to lower my expectations on offense.

This guy gets it, and I agree.

Oh....

Sweet, sweet melt Tigah. Try to hold back a bit. It's not even September yet, and you want to be sure to save some for November!

I'm shocked we are #10th... I'm shocked MS St is #2..

I would have put us at #5....Ms St at 10th.

I actually buy the hype of the State defense. People are looking at the loss of mainly 2 guys on their DL and think this is the old MS ST and they don't recruit well.

They have 2 outstanding LBs. Gay(Jr) is a top 5 outside LB and is above Jennings in some publications. Enroll Thompson(Jr).. List in the top 5 of ILBs.

A CB (dantzler a Jr) is expected to go first round in '20 and '21 (he will leave early though) is listed as a top 5 CB. JaQuarius Landrews is the #8th Safty in the nation.

Again.. are they going to be #2? If they are Shoop will be gone the following year because somebody will PAY him because HE will be the difference.

Again.. Top #15 I can agree.

Yeah, I don’t think we will be number 2 in the nation on defense, but with what we have coming back we should be at least Top 20-25. Some of these dolts(Arkansas troll fans) on here don’t understand that while we lost 3 damn good players the cupboard is hardly bare. Gay and Thompson are two of the best LB’s in the SEC. Landrews and Cole are pretty good at the safeties. Dantzler is one of the best corners in the nation. With the way we rotate players we have plenty of experience. No, we won’t be as good as last year, but we will still be pretty good.

That pretty good DL coach that developed two first round picks left for Alabama.

He’s a good coach, but those two were going to be first rounders regardless.
