FTR, 2003 LSU is criminally underrated.

I just don't get the this one. They beat up a bunch of 8-4 teams and slowly becoming better every year. Danny K and Greg McElroy really nailed this one, if it wasn't for the draft and NFL careers, we wouldn't talk about them. They are reaching mythical status off of NFL careers.
Also, OSU at 4 is a head scratcher

LSU 2019 would've whipped both 05UT and 01UM. Come on. Ain't nobody beat'n Burreaux

but we couldn't, because they lost to the team LSU later beat by 17

All I see is Bama in there 6 times

I see a lot of teams that didn't win the natty. How can they be considered some of the best teams of the last 20ish years when they didn't win the title in the year in which they played?
Also, if that is not a part of the criteria, how is the 2011 LSU team not included? Or any Tebow Florida team? Even the 2010 Auburn team with Cam should be in that convo, especially since the team listed at one was essentially the same team as that bunch (generational QB and slightly above average talent around them).

That 2001 Miami team beat 1 top 10 team and that was #4 Nebraska for the title.
There’s not a resume close to 2019 LSU

Lost 2 games and scored 2 points in the CG against an Oklahoma team that squeaked out wins in their two prior games. Seems legit.

I agree. Hell 2001 beat an average top 15 Va tech by two points... 2019 LSU would wipe the floor with them.

I just don't get the hype!
Were they a loaded roster, absolutely.
So was
05 USC
11 LSU
11 A1
There only ranked wins
#4 Nebraska - 2 losses
#14 Vtech - 4 losses
#11 Washington - 4 losses
#15 Syracuse - 3 losses
#13 FSU - 4 losses
As I stated earlier, this team is reaching mythical status bc of a draft and NFL careers..not based off that 01 season

the difference isnt that close.
We should have been able to find out on the field.
Well, we had that exact opportunity. tOSU failed to take advantage of it.

The fact 2019 Ohio State team is 4th is proof the list is not credible.
So a team that didn't play for the national championship is 4th? Sorry, it makes this particular ranking a complete joke.

2011 LSU would molly a few of those teams.

My general response to any Sagarin rating is “meh..” Computer rankings simply reflect the biases of the programmer who designs the program. Whether one likes the result depends on whether one agrees with the factors used and the weights given to them.

4. 2019 Ohio State 104.8
5. 2016 Clemson 105.4
6. 2016 Alabama 105.3
Either that's a typo, or the 2016 Alabama and Clemson teams should 3 and 4.
Sagarin has Alabama's 2012 team at 99.4, but the #2 team is 93.91... which is a difference of 5.49. That's a fairly large gap.
Interesting tidbit is that the 2015 Alabama team is not very high - but played 11 games against top 30 teams that year and went 14-1 vs the #1 SOS.
Teams that won the title and had a top 10 SOS:
2019 LSU (#3)
2015 Alabama (#1)
2009 Alabama (#2)
2008 Florida (#4)
2006 Florida (#6)
2004 USC (#7)
So essentially, of the 10 titles the SEC has won since 2006, half were against a 6th or tougher SOS. No other team that has won it has faced a top 10 SOS.

I believe OSU was a better team than Clemson, but #4?
That's just complete nonsense.
