Defense has been subpar 3 years and running. Hasn't been elite since Pruitt left.
Same mediocre linebacker play and blown assignments in the secondary year after year.
There was a standard on defense that hasn't been met once during the Golding era.

Well, someone knows how to read a scoreboard.
It's a down year. You can't expect to be great every fricking year. Everything since 2009 with Nick Saban has been a bonus and some of you are too stupid to realize what a great time it is to be an Alabama fan.
We aren't going to win the national championship this year most likely. Learn to fricking deal with it rookie fan.

He went off on a tangent, and it sounded rehearsed. Rat poison was mentioned at least 3 times.
Coach has spoiled us rotten and when we see deficiencies we get pissed. He built this beast and he demands a high standard.

It's Saban's fault for hiring Golding. I'm beginning to think that after Kirby left and Lane flamed out prior to the NCG he's mainly looking to hire yes men, hence has beens like O'Brien and nobodies like Golding. He just happened to get lucky last year with Sark. When he finally does replace them it will be with like, Todd Grantham and Cam Cameron.
Now as for LSU, they would trade that "GOAT" season for decades of being Vanderbilt if it meant they could frick over Alabama somehow in the process, so they have no room to talk about anything.

He gets as frustrated as any entitled fan with the team's pisspoor attitude and effort, and actually has invited the fans' sour perception of this year's team by challenging them via his comments about them to the press. This rant was a course correction.
He has to deal with both entitled fans and entitled players. He just recognized it was time to encourage his players (especially the ones who do work hard) by taking this shot. It could work, especially for this Iron Bowl.
I doubt any rhetorical flourish will stop what's coming from UGA, but this is a good move for this week.

I think the chances are coach Saban is frustrated as well. This is not about the fans or players, this is just plain bad defensive coaching. With Golding, we are asking our guys to dig a ditch with a spoon. We are simply using the wrong tools for the job. We are in bad schemes and we have simplified very little that lets us play FAST.
The great Bill Walsh famously said, "players move at 2/3 speed when they are unsure of their assignment." BAMA's defense has been a step behind for 4 years now and the fans are getting restless. Count me in.
