Saban didn't even know there was a presidential election yesterday

To be honest with you, I didn't even know yesterday was election day," Saban said at a news conference Wednesday. "It was so important to me that I didn't even know it was happening. We're focused on other things here."
Unlike his mentor Bill Belichick, who wrote a letter congratulating Trump for running a "tremendous" campaign, Saban has avoided taking sides.
"If I say I like one person, that means everybody that voted for the other person doesn't like me," Saban said. "So, why would I do that? I want what's best for our country. I'm not sure I can figure that out. I want what's best for people who want to improve the quality of their life. I hope whoever our leader is will do all that he can do to make our country safe and improve the quality of life for a lot of the people we have in our country and I don't think I am qualified to determine who that should be."

Wow that is the ultimate genius cop out answer so no one gets mad at him and he is full on focused on football. Brilliant.

He's such a great role model.

Smart not to pick sides. Stupid not to vote and downplay a major election.

He probably voted absentee or something. An aide or GTA probably gave him a ballot and he voted in his office weeks ago. Probably took him 5 min.

I guarantee you he voted absentee weeks ago.
I'd guess Hillary, since he's from a long line of blue collar Democrats, but after she said she was going to put the coal companies out of business, I'm not so sure. That would hit pretty close to home for him.

To be the GOAT, you have to have football on your mind 24/7. I remember ESPN interviewed him last year on the plane ride home from the National Championship game against Clemson and he was already looking at film to prepare for next year. That's the type of dude we are dealing with here.

Lot of emotions running high right now. Playing dumb seems like a decent way of dodging the subject.

I don't understand why we want our football coaches to tell us their political opinions. It wasn't a cop out answer, it was a "why tf are you asking me this" answer

Sorry, but I call bullshite. No way in hell he is that secluded from the world.

Saban voted early per AL.com.
Write-in vote for Ritter.

Saban said he'd like to bang-out Hillary ... so I don't believe him. He's lying because he doesn't want everyone to know he was backing a loser.
Can't wait to see his midget arse standing next to 6'4" Donald at the White House. Assuming Bama gets there again.
What will that make ... three different Presidents Saban has met? Or will he beg Obama to let him bring the team back before inauguration? When is the championship played this year?

Tunnel vision dawg. My coach is all football even playing state.
I'm sure he absenteed and voted for trump. Obama's gonna have Bama withdrawal.

Never take sides in a political campaign, if you are a coach.
Every other coach will make sure you get alienated by telling your views to recruits.
Only a negative.

quote:I watched the video. He didn't say or imply that he did not vote. Nor did he downplay the importance of the election. (He probably voted early. He doesn't waste time.) Instead, he was indicating that he does not share his polical views and doesn't feel qualified to influence other voters.
Smart not to pick sides. Stupid not to vote and downplay a major election.

I wish there were a lot more people with this ammount of self awareness on their own limitations. Being presidant is about more than a few social issues. Its complexeties go beyond the comprehension of most voters

Lol, so obviously tongue-in-cheek statement. Of course he knew. He's just dodging because it's SMART to dodge. It's never good for coaches to get political. He probably voted early anyway, instead of getting caught up in the madness of waiting in line on a Tuesday.

Nick told the reporter to take it to the election board. There should be one of those for everyday life. People who want to fight about the election should have designated areas where there can find other people to fight with.
