The thought that Nick Saban will be CO-DC is beyond stupid.

Nick Saban is a control freak. He's psychotically driven to control everything in his life.

The other fan bases strongly support the continued intervention and meddling of Saban

It won't end well

It’s also laughable that a POS like Saban would help his successor by any noticeable amount. Like he’s going to help a guy win a championship and get no credit for it.

Saban might have given him a quick lecture on how to seriously injure opposing players and not get caught, but DeBoer has probably watched enough Saban coached games by now that said lecture was merely a formality.

I hope Coach Saban is digging the 4-2-5 look. But he morphed into a lot of the same formations, so they had plenty to share. The biggest difference I see coming is pressure. Wommack loves to bring the blitz and will put BAMA fans in mind of Jeremy Pruitt in that respect.

I wouldn't want someone who refused to take advantage on having access to, undoubtedly the best person ever, at the profession they were hired to undertake.......what a no-brainer!

Saban never spent large amounts of time talking to other coaches and learning from them over his career. He never looked at what others did and adapted them to his own purpose. He would never in a million years think about calling up a legendary coach to pick his brain and get his opinion.

Exactly. Saban routinely consulted with other coaches in the offseason on offensive and defensive schemes. Most good coaches do the same.

The point of my post was, Saban will either do nothing, or do nothing and say he’s doing something.

Have you guys even started mourning the 2010s yet?

Why? They aren't going anywhere. Our museum is full of trophies suggesting as much. Neither is Coach Saban's record against the cajuns. (13-5)

See, that didn't hurt much, now did it?

You expect to already have an interim head coach by the LSU game?

LOL. You skeered.

It would be absolutely stupid not to take advantage of keeping Saban around as much as he is willing, if only just for showing up on the practice field occasionally when a group of elite recruits happen to be there.

Plus, he's just a good defensive coach.

True, if he has an ego this would backfire. But some people don't care about things and just want to see the team succeed cuz ultimately that's what they are paid to do.

Seems like a no win situation for the staff. If they win, Saban's tutoring gets credit. If they lose - especially if the defense fails, they get blamed for not applying Saban's knowledge.

Saban is a great resource. Like Deboer said, they'd be crazy not to use his wisdom. Saban don't much about offense, but he does know defense.

If Saban is consulting and actively allowed to participate then there really isnt an issue. Honestly trying to hire him as Quality control or whatever those analyst positions are, would be smart

if it is what Spurrier does then I think it would be a hinderance.

Alabama DC Kane Wommack told @NextRoundLive he met with Nick Saban for a second time this morning about Alabama's defense. Wommack told his wife it was like "cramming for a final" before the meeting.

So embarrassing. Talk about following up a legend in the most buffoonish way possible. I’d be extremely concerned about this staff if I were a Bama fan

How can a defensive coach no know much about offense?

They expired in 2017… no legitimate title since. I’m just saying, you have a new coach, and some clear leadership issues as well as several new coaches who have no idea what to do in the SEC, mourning is an important part of moving on but you guys are skipping the grieving process and will be too distracted by the suck.

Milroe is a poor man’s Cam Newton, and DeBoer was a panic hire.
