It's definitely high when they can come in to Louisiana and cherry pick some of the top players and get them to pass on LSU which has had tons more success while also shutting Bama out of prospects from LA who was LSU's biggest competition recently.

And on another note some of those players aren't even looking to transfer back to LSU with coaching change.

Well, there are only so many children's hospitals to defraud to fund illicit payments to LSU players. That could have been part of it as well.

This should worry you. A&M will not stop until it wins. This isn't the A&M of the past 100 years. We will buy every player, hire every coach, and eventually will win. You lose. It is a matter of when, not if. It is inevitable.

They asked Bjork if it was true they really spent 35 million on that 2022 recruiting class. Bjork said that was false, they spent 50 million

So they are damn close to paying 1 million per player on the roster. That’s insane.

I’m starting to get a picture of how all of that failed. You shove a couple million into a college freshman’s pocket… is he going to be focused on football? He now has more money that many people have even seen… and he is just going to go to class and then focus on athletics? A 18 to 19 year old?

That’s a recipe for Johnny Manziel focus without Johnny Manziel results.

Why do you think Saban is pissed? He used to be able to go into Texas and LA and get whoever he wanted. That well is drying up keeps bama in check somewhat.

And adding insult to injury, Sabin was undercut when the agreement went through for the in-house Learfield NIL office at Bryant-Deny Stadium.

Several other coaches are using that against Saban during recruiting visits.

In the past, Alabama used to provide tools for Sabin, but the greed of a select few who received a healthy back door cut is now actually working against Sabin.

The brave new world for blue blood budgets is this:
A. You must spend $250k per 4 star to butter them up and sell them on THEIR OWN brand. (White collar selfish mindset).

B. Then you have to somehow persuade them to play selflessly and NOT in the best interest of their personal brand (injury, fighting for reps…)

C. Coaches now have to function like AD’s have had to function with coaches for the past 10 years. Make big and costly promises that rarely pay off and often create ego problems

All jokes aside, this is not right. The A&M of 50 years ago was a much smaller institution with a very different focus and priorities.

My understanding was that NIL was supposed to come from outside entities without the school predicting and knowing the amount the student received based on their image

Yea it was supposed to be for players to be in commercials, sign autographs etc. Now it's just pay for play but out in the open and not paid by the university

How dumb and wasteful would people have to be to spend that much money on football players? Players that don't really generate revenue personally for you?

That's aggy. Oh and lets not forget..

If anyone was wondering, the NFL salary cap is currently $226.8 million.

So if the 50 million is accurate, aggy paid 22% of an NFL roster to go 7-5.

That sounds sustainable.

So an athletic director, even one as dumb as Bjork, got asked by other athletic directors if he really cheated as much as people say, and his answer was to tell his competitors, who can report him to NCAA, that he cheated even more than people know?

You just benefited from playing the blind.
By playing the blind, does that include beating one team on the road by 10 points, where LSU subsequently lost by 14 points to the same team in the same building?

Actually it's the exact opposite, NIL opened the doors for Texas to compete in national recruiting (specifically the southeast) & join the SEC. Texas' NIL program is second to none and comfortably sustainable.

A&M is the crack head who just won the lottery, Texas is Microsoft in a regulated market.

and this is what some people want CFB to be

This is what the idiots wanted it to be. Those of us that knew how this would go down were told we were stupid. It would be "spending money".
There was nothing wrong with the model we had. Free education, best food, best medical care, best living facilities. I agree there should be a stipend of maybe 800 bucks a month or something but to just be able to get paid all you can was stupid. If you want to be able to work and money then don't play college athletics and go to work. nobody is holding a gun to your head.

I think you left something out of the equation... bags, lots of them.
