For most of the game, it was a nail-biter for sure. But had Mizzou won, would they have even gotten the nod to play FSU? I mean, I recall Auburn wasn't even an automatic to play them, and much politicking was going on after that...

We would have beat FSU. Would have beat Auburn too had our DC not decided to completely scrap the defense we had been running all year with a week to prepare

I mean, that's obvious

You scored 42 points, had 500+ yards and still lost by 17

Missouri was clearly the better team

Yes. I remember supposed "BCS expert" Brad Edwards saying on ESPN before or during the game if Ohio St lost (which they did) and Missouri won, they would be selected to play for the BCS title.

Josey getting pushed into the stadium cart didn't help matters either. Who knows how many times we would've scored had that not happened.

Going into that Saturday, the BCS top ten was:
Florida State
Ohio State
Auburn
Alabama
Missouri
Oklahoma State
Stanford
South Carolina
Baylor
Michigan State

Michigan State beat OSU. If Mizzou had beaten Auburn, it would have been interesting to see if beating #2 was enough to jump the #10 team over what had been #5 who would have beaten #3.

1st and only time i got asked to leave a BWW. was in St Charles, MO - and the MO fans kept getting pissed off when I would clap at Auburn making a good play.

was laughable really.

I'd imagine if I wore Mizzou gear to a BWW in Alabama during that game, being politely asked to leave would be the least of my worries

MIzzou’s DL was SICK in 2013 and tore up pocket QBs. Presuming Franklin was healthy we beat FSU and the world ends the next day.

I don’t mind Mizzou fans bc we literally have nothing to bitch at each other about, but your defense had zero answer for Greg Robinson and Tre Mason.

The name you are missing is Nick Marshall. Dude was the general of that offense. His read game was very strong.

I was there at that game and eventually stayed in the parking lot at our big tailgate watching the Ohio State Mich St game in the freezing cold to find out we had punched out ticket to Pasadena. One of the happiest football nights of my life. Just couldnt believe it

Damn I got drunk that day and night. Was fun

Was pretty sure I was going to die about 5x on the way there and back. Drove 1300 miles RT in an absolute crazy ice storm, about 35 miles an hour most of the way down. We had to stop about every 20 minutes so I could scrape off the windshield because the defroster couldn't keep up with the freezing rain.

And yeah, the defensive plan (and execution, or lack thereof) was atrocious...if Mizzou had pulse on defense things would have been different. I don't see Mizzou beating FSU, but I do think Mizzou would have beaten Alabama that year. Regardless, the '07 team was better (not as well rounded, but better) and that was Mizzou's best shot for a natty; I think they beat Ohio State that year if they could have taken care of OU.
