1943 was the last year that football was not played because of World War II.

If football was not played the sun would come up every morning and set every evening. No big deal. I love football but in the grand scheme it is not nearly the most important thing in my life.

If we’re not playing football this fall, it’ll be the least of our worries.

I think by May at the latest, the country is going to have to deal with facing the reckoning that life must go on. I think we have 3-6 more weeks of intense social-isolation / lockdowns. Then it will shift to, "be as safe as you can, but go about your daily lives".

This is my view, except that I don't think we can go on as long as 6 weeks more. To continue this for longer results in nothing less than the destruction of our republic. The virus is serious, but not that serious. We will be back to work and normal life, with certain modifications. Certain hot spots may be locked down longer. I predict there will be football in the fall.

Well I'm sure people who don't understand the stats of other things that kills people won't feel silly. But that's just because they are dumb.

You do realize those other things still happen right? This added a NEW reason. It’s still a large number of deaths that normally wouldn’t happen.

I mean, sharks kill very few people every year but I bet your arse gets out of the ocean when you see one.

Yeah, and even though those other things are worse, we don't act like this over them.

Here's all the known pandemics in history. But also keep in mind that the further back in history, the lower the population, so the higher % of the population for even numbers.

Now, for all these pandemics, the common flu kills over 290k people world wide a year, even with vaccines. Sometimes up to 600k. In the US alone, between 20k and 60k. Each year like clockwork as it gets cold outside.

That is more than every pandemic scare we've had in recent history. WAY MORE.

See all those after 2000? Yeah, those are all things the CDC or WHO called a global pandemic. Suddenly so many pandemics and yet they all kill less people than the regular flu. But doesn't stop people from yelling and acting like it's the end of the world.

And guess what? Despite all this stuff we are doing, we are all probably going to get it. We've literally shut the world down and killed the planet economically over what has thus far been blown out of proportion.

Most likely nothing major will happen, and everyone will pretend that buying up toilet paper saved all themselves.

It’s quite possible they are playing football in the fall but with no fans.

There is still some time to see if something big happens to reverse how things are trending, but It is a real possibility at this point unfortunately.

Meh. It will probably save a lot of lives in Alabama. Human and dog.
