Not saying Gayle is dumb, but nothing in life has equipped her to oversee and make decisions regarding a sports franchise. Much less two. In that regard she is an outlier among the other owners. Many of them have built/earned their wealth. Or at least have experience in business of some kind.

No not really. The buyout is owed over the term of the contract. If he wants a lump sum, a lower figure needs to be negotiated. Present value and all. Plus, there is a mitigation clause. If he wants that waived, he takes less. Plus, there maybe other things to negotiate.

And the other part of the equation was that he was handed the starting job with no competition. Not a good thing. He should have entered fall camp knowing he had to win the job.

I don’t agree with you about the playbook, but you’ve touched on the problem. When BK had Underwood committed he thought he was set and his work was done at the QB position. When Underwood bolted we ended up with all our eggs in the Nuss basket. With catastrophic results.
