I was at the Cotton Bowl in 2000 when Heupel kicked our asses 63-14 I wound up breaking the metal seat in front of me as we sang the eyes.

Anyways I have always respected him even though I didn't like him. Today he made me like him.

Nico now has 'character issues'. That will never go away. And no, I don't think he will get more than 2.4 million.

You guys are all presuming Nico won’t get more than Tenn offered. You are probably going to be proven wrong. Will you come back and ever say Nico and his father won when that happens?

They will have won, if they're just after money. That's assuming they do get more.

But he's also a national joke and that will only become more true if he isn't really good next year and he probably won't be.

Only a really desperate team is going to give millions of dollars to an average quarterback who is a national joke, it almost makes your program look even worse.

So today he has character issues when 3 days ago Tennessee was willing to pay him 2 million?

Come on. Some team will pay him. That’s what happens in free agency. The players don’t care about the school or jersey no different than the players in pro sports do. It’s about the money and I respect it. Nico will get paid and Tennessee will pay another QB.

Maybe to some degree but in this situation, the fans are absolutely right.

Heupel and Lanning are the winners in this.

Heupel isn’t a winner if UT has QB issues in the fall and gets the shite kicked out of them.

Nothing matters in CFB until it’s time to show the cards in the fall, baby.

Yeah, if you're actually worth your asking price.

I'm not sure Nico is, especially this late in the offseason.

Nope. We've shown consistently that we aren't committed to winning in football. We will definitely let him walk.

Tennessee was willing to pay this player 2 million just 2 days ago, now suddenly Huepel is a hero and the QB sucks? I agree he sucks, but Huepel was willing to pay him 2 million. So is Heupel an idiot? Maybe Nico wants to get away from a coach willing to pay a mediocre player 2 million?

Something we can all agree on

Extorting your team is a bitch made move

You deserve to be kicked off the team and your reputation is in the gutter

Tennessee’s collective has been putting out feelers since last night. Don’t be surprised if they end up better off.

None of your "points" are making any sense.

What is confusing you about this situation?

Hopefully all these coaches call each other and use Nico as the scapegoat.

Everyone is trashing Nico and his father.

Don't worry bout Nico, he'll get plenty of love as soon as he wins that first game for whoever he plays for in 2025.

I don't believe every coach at every school is going to stand with Tennessee on this, the cats out of the bagel now.

Some teenager pumped up on his own press, along with greedy family and “advisors,” was bound to overplay his hand eventually. Short of some kind of rule change, the only way to rein this in was for somebody to say kick rocks, kid. Good on Tennessee.

That's how the free market works.
