So Mullen over Gus? Makes sense, Gus has only beaten Mullens teams 87-24 the last 2 years.

2-3 Against Saban
2 SECW Championships
1 SECC
1 NC Appearance
3 Big 6 Bowl Games
3 Playoff Poll Appearances

Show me the other 4 (3) Coaches that can match that.

Saban is 1.
Fisher is 2.

They have National Championships and proven sustainable success.

Kirby and Gus are 3 & 4 in some order. I can understand why some would put Gus higher, but I'd put Kirby as 3 just because of the recruiting (and I'm biased )

5. Mullen
6. Boom
7. Stoops
8. Ed O
9. Odom
10. Morris
11. Mason
12. Luke

TBD: Pruitt & Moorehead

This isn't necessarily the order I'd take them, just solely based on what they've accomplished so far IMO.

I dont have a problem with this list.

I would probably put Kirby and Gus tied at #2. Kirby was bad in year 1 and had a very good year 2. Gus had the best year 1 by any SEC coach ever (remember 2012) and a disappointing year 2. Gus made it to Atlanta again last year, beat saban again, etc. Kirby is recruiting lights out, #1. So, push.

I'll also put Fisher and Mullen as equals at #4. FSU was ready to fire Fisher a while back and he was 1 play away from losing to AU with a team many were saying might be the best college team ever before the game. As a double digit favorite as well. And he has had a LOT of subpar seasons at FSU. Mullen has done more with less more often than any coach in the league.

Saban
Fisher

Clearly the top 2. Only coaches with National titles on their resume.

Malzahn gets the #3 slot over Kirby. But that's only because of longer tenure, at the same point in their careers they're dead even.
Kirby
Mullen
Boom

Everyone else.

This thread just reminded me of how much the coaching sucks in our conference.

I was struggling to name a #2. I would probably put Gus there.

It takes an Alabama fan to know other than just the Msu fans because you guys know your football. I agree, we got a good one.

The other coaches shouldn't even be on the same list as Saban.

Agreed. The James Franklin experiment was not working at Penn State until he hired Moorhead to run the offense

Pretty much this. If Kirby wins the SEC East again this year then I think it's safe to put him ahead of Gus at that point (unless Gus also wins West again). I'm not sold yet on Jimbo at A&M but he's clearly got the strongest HC resume after Saban

Another educated football fan. Two thumbs up and you are 100% correct. Also Moorheads past records in coaching. Yep, we got a good one.

How is gus better than Jimbo?

What was Jimbo's last record before he scurried off to College Station? He had Clemson to worry about, that was it. Good luck to him in the SECW, he's proven to allow the Winston's of the world to do as they please, he'll fit in well there.

Any millionaire that has his wife frick around on him is weak and not head coach material.

Also: Moorhead joined the University of Connecticut staff in 2009 as offensive coordinator. The Huskies won a Big East Championship in 2010 and made an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl.

Moorhead was named the head football coach at Fordham University on December 16, 2011. Inheriting a 1–10 team, the Rams had the second largest turnaround in FCS in 2012 (6–5). The Rams opened the 2013 season with ten consecutive wins, exceeding the best start in Fordham's history.

After turning Penn State around as OC for two years I think we saw what a great coach he is. Btw, on August 24, 2017, Moorhead was named the No. 1 rising assistant in college football by Sports Illustrated and Yahoo.
