We hear a lot about this job being the best, that job being the best, etc. What is the best football head coaching gig in the SEC? Rank them from best to worst. I am curious what the Rant says.

That's loser's mentality, football coaches aren't (in general) wired that way.

I agree with you but these coaches think differently. If I got fired and got a $20 million buyout, I'm going to buy a nice spread somewhere and fade into the sunset, but you see these guys keep chasing the next job.

I think most of their buyouts have clauses that they need to continue to seek similar employment, and the pay is offset in the buyout. It is why you see so many analysts.

If the question is which one is the ripest for winning championships consistently, it's likely Texas. You have virtually unlimited funding which is the biggest obstacle to overcome. A&M is comparable from a budget standpoint but they don't have the tradition to point to. Even though Texas has largely underachieved since the '70's despite it's advantages, they can at least point to a handful of years where it all aligned.

We suck at hiring head coaches and that has held us back most years. Sark is an improvement from the last two by far but he's not someone who can win it all.
Then again that list is pretty damn small. I shite on Sark a lot. I hate his arrogance that blinds him to his own limitations on offense but he's not a bad coach.
I just don't think he can win a title.

Seems like these days, the pressure is just on their ego. They get a ton of money, win or lose.

If we're defining "best" as the program that provides the clearest path to a national championship if you could plug an elite coach into that program, I'd rank as follows:

He's not as bad as I make him out to be. His arrogance just pisses me off because I truly believe we are a great OC away from having a shot.

Auburn has been a better job than TN for half a century.
Similar expectations from the fanbases, but Auburn is in a much better location in terms of proximity to high school talent.
Tennessee is also burdened by having a top 2 alumni city being 400+ miles away (Memphis). That complicates engagement with large donors. 75%+ of Auburn's season ticket holders / big donors live within about 120 miles of Auburn.
When it comes to what constitutes a program being a "good job", I can't think of one area that Tennessee is better than Auburn.

probably Georgia. only SEC in a high population, talent rich state. LSU is in the same boat. Texas is in a great spot but Texas A&M and Texas Tech are also flush in oil money. Add in Oklahoma.
And there are approximately 22.5 million Texas A&M graduates in the state, so it's likely any random kid has hated Texas since birth.

how is florida who is notorious for being cheap asses ahead of the others?
outside of CuM and Spurrier they havent won in the last 35 years.
