I always rag on our Aggie friends about how College Station and the campus reminds me of Soviet era Russia, but Tech is truly 10x worse. It’s a flat, dusty shithole of nothingness. I’d seriously be suicidal if I had to stay in that town for more than 12 hrs. It has this reputation as a party school, but what the frick do they do when they drink? Sit on the porch and watch the tumbleweeds and dirt devils go by? They’ll never be competitive because no top athlete, regardless of money, will ever want to spend their youth there.

Every few years it literally rains mud in Austin. That mud comes from Lubbock.

Texas Tech has its own VET school, taking some students from aggy.

Glad there will be no trips to Lubbock going forward. Very nasty, abusive fans both to visiting players and fans. It’s really not safe for visitors. They throw stuff on the field and courts, and Texas Tech has done nothing to clean things up. It’s gotten worse since Texas and A&M became more selective in admissions, and Tech started getting a lot of urban kids who couldn’t get admitted to Texas or A&M. It’s no longer a school who draws its students mostly from west Texas. West Texas has been an area of declining population for decades.

TCU is probably the best run program in the state right now. Baylor was right on their heels. Both programs punched way above their weight class, while Texas and A&M have done little more than make asses of themselves despite all their resources.
Tech is barely on the radar. They have a small group of very wealthy donors who are trying to change that, but they simply won’t be able to get enough talent to choose Lubbock Texas over Fort Worth or Houston. They also won’t be able to hold onto a really good coach. They are screwed.

Baylor was only actually decent when Briles was the coach and that was years ago.

It has the worst smelling campus that’s for sure.

Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble when you’re perfect in every way. Mack Davis says not so fast my friend.

Their fans are the worst, though. Feral pieces of trash
Ole Miss has played them like 6-8 times through bowls and home and home series since the late 90s and this is absolutely true. It’s uncanny how bad they are.

I’ll add I’m not sure what the history is on this, but I’ve always thought it was strange that Texas Tech bucked the trend of ____ Tech being the school with the strong engineering and technical programs a la CalTech, MIT, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, etc…
But seriously, Texas Tech never got the funding that those schools received. It wasn't the Land Grant school, and didn't share in the oil money of the Permanent University Fund.

Not sure about their academics, but Tech is 6-4 in their last 10 games against Texas A&M.
Texas Tech won more head to head vs Aggy while in the SWC. Texas Tech won more head to head vs Aggy while in the Big 12. Tech owns aggy!

Except A&M owns the series record.
Mike Leach took the Tech football program to its most successful stretch coinciding with the Fran ( ) years, which tilted the Big XII record in their favor. Once he was ousted, Tech returned to obscurity.
But schools are more than their football programs. The student populations at Texas A&M and Texas are growing more and more alike. Tech, though, is filled with trash and a-holes.

live in Texas and my 3 kids have told me that at their high school the C students are the ones who end up at Tech. They say the low B, to high C kids from their school who think they are “too good/uppity” for Tech usually end up at OU or Arkansas.
The normal kids who make straight A’s end up at A&M or Texas. The super smart, oddball type kids end up at Rice
At least that is what they have noticed from their high school in a suburb of Dallas.
MurphyGator absolutely nailed it and it’s been that way since the late 80s I guarantee you

Wow dude, do you just hop from thread to thread making up shite about A&M regardless of the facts? A&M owns Tech in the SWC and overall. You really should learn to use Google. It will help keep you from looking ignorant by not posting facts.
Your obsession with A&M is noted. You are really making the rest of the donghorn posters look stupid

Texas Tech won the head to head vs TAMU in both the SWC and B12.

SWC History
"Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University) joined the SWC in 1958 from the Border Conference, followed by the University of Houston for the 1976 season (Houston won the SWC football championship in its first season in the league)."
Note the B12 started in 1996.
A&M VS TEXAS TECH BY YEAR
