Where does Texas Tech sit in the order of Texas schools, assuming that Texas and A&M are 1 and 2? I used to think it was #3 but not so sure anymore. Do y'all consider them as a rival?

Texas tech is a big school and lots of our peers went there, but it’s like a Cal grad saying their biggest rival is USC, or UCF saying Florida is their biggest rival. It’s true for one but not the other.

They honestly should be #3 in Texas, and were arguably #2 when Leach was there, but haven’t done shite while tcu and Baylor have actually accomplished something over the past 5-10 years.

Their fans are the worst, though. Feral pieces of trash

They’ve done a lot for their location etc and apparently gotten under Aggies and LongHorn’s skins. From Dykes to Leach and even Tuberville. They have done well with only Buddy Holly (RIP) as their claim to fame.

I say since we’ve opened the floodgates bring TT and Baylor in. Solid athletics. And they piss off Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma.

They have their fair share of Big Oil money and BSD alumni being the West Texas school of good ole boys, but they are two steps below A&M and our 3rd best public school. You could do much worse.

I’ll add I’m not sure what the history is on this, but I’ve always thought it was strange that Texas Tech bucked the trend of ____ Tech being the school with the strong engineering and technical programs a la CalTech, MIT, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, etc…

Not really a rival. West Texas is very different than the rest. Tech also has the saying to highschoolers “if you can’t get your grades up, get your guns up”, it’s on par with UH Baylor smu etc

I live in Texas and my 3 kids have told me that at their high school the C students are the ones who end up at Tech. They say the low B, to high C kids from their school who think they are “too good/uppity” for Tech usually end up at OU or Arkansas.

The normal kids who make straight A’s end up at A&M or Texas. The super smart, oddball type kids end up at Rice

At least that is what they have noticed from their high school in a suburb of Dallas.

What really ranks, college choices is the attractiveness of the ladies. Texas as you might expect is #1, with Texas State at #2 and Texas Tech #3. They are not very far apart.

Texas Tech is a collection of retards that have been forced to live in the dystopian nightmare that is Lubbock.

Not sure about their academics, but Tech is 6-4 in their last 10 games against Texas A&M.

Since the Big 12 began in 1996, Tech is 10-6 versus aggy.

Tech owned aggy in football. One year they took down their goal posts and rammed them in to the aggy visitor section.

Aggy pooped their pants and were seen washing their underwear in the bathrooms.
