Question for Arkansas fans about Petrino

Why did it not work out the 2nd go around? I honestly didn't pay much attention to his offenses the last couple of years. It seemed like a blur. Was the talent down or what?

He didn't win a single game. Our defense gave up roughly 11,000 yards through the air each game.

The offense did fine, until we actually needed them to win games. And then they frickin turned the ball over every single time at the worst possible juncture in the game. Every time.

If Petrino would have won the State and Auburn games at home, he would still here.
He would probably be here even if just won one game against those terrible teams. Just one for crying out loud.
But the State game was one of the worst games that I've watched in years. State was awful and they were trying to give the game away. But Arkansas said hold my Gatorade and had a complete meltdown in the fourth quarter.
That was the last straw and fans began getting off the Petrino bandwagon.
He would probably be here even if just won one game against those terrible teams. Just one for crying out loud.

Arkansas had talent and the defense while bad wasn't completely devoid of talent but suffered a severe coaching issue with Travis Williams.
He might be the worst DC in Arkansas football history.
He also had history with Petrino back when Petrino was with Atlanta and probably held a grudge.

Father Time is undefeated(as is p****,also applicable). He’s in his mid 60s. Not the same guy he was 15 years ago. Not saying he’s horrible but the margin for winning games in the sec with mediocre talent is razor thin. I mean congrats to unc for winning today but they only scored 15 points.

I am glad for both Petrino and Arkansas' sake that it didn't work out.
To have him back as head coach after canning him for sexual scandal is kind of a bad look for Arkansas... and for him... not being at Arkansas is probably a better situation... Because if he were head coach and things started going south... All that old stuff would keep resurfacing especially when Arkansas fans turned on him.
And of course other fans would always bring it up... because that is what other fans do. Especially if they can pile on with it.

The defense wasn't his fault but Arkansas couldn't justify hiring a coach that went 0-7.
He needed to win some games to get the job. Arkansas wasn't going to hand him the job just because he is Bobby Petrino.

That Notre Dame game didn’t help. Wasn’t Arkansas down 42-13 at home at the half? And then they didn’t score a point in the second half? It feels like that Notre Dame is when a lot of Arkansas fans packed it in.

The Memphis loss was the beginning of the end for Pittman.

We had a top 15 offense nationally last year. Petrino wasn't the issue. The nationally bottom 10 defense was.

Some guys top out as coordinators. They can be great coordinators, but they need to be kept on a short leash. When they advance to head coach there is no leash anymore. And then they self-destruct. It seems to often involve some type of off the field issue/s. Many fall prey to some combination of the holy trinity; drugs, alcohol, and women.
