He is the 2010s version of Curley Hallman. Great recruiter and a good position coach , but dumb as a box of rocks. Career based upon being a good old boy and knowing the right people. Hasn’t really achieved anything in his own merit. Worst kind of hire.

Let’s be honest here for a minute, Germy May be stupid, but not even Saban could be successful at Tenner with that group of losers.

What is often misunderstood is that a head coach, or head anything, has to have LEADERSHIP qualities to be successful. You can be a good coordinator without them, but you can’t captain the ship. Pruitt has absolutely no leadership qualities and it is very evident in his speaking. He sounds and looks lost, “aight”. UT will have to fire him after this season, maybe before. He’s just not head coach material and never will be.

Pruitt making millions as a head coach in the SEC shows two things:
(1) Anyone can make it big in America if they catch a break; and
(2) UT made the worst coaching hire in SEC history...hiring a guy that 10 years ago was a coordinator for a high school, that never even worked as a high school head coach to turn their program around at the most critical time in their history.

UT set themselves back 10 years with this hire, at least.

I see it this way. You can be a great manager in your office, but that doesn't mean you would be a great business owner. A business owner has to manage every aspect of his or her business. Pruitt is a great coordinator, but he lacks the skills to be a good head coach. There are so many other responsibilities to being a head coach that I don't think Pruitt realized when he took the job. From dealing with the media to arranging team transportation, etc. I don't think he knew what he was getting into. I think he will be a better coordinator when this head coaching comes to an end. When he was at UGA, he had others to blame when the team wasn't winning games. As a head coach, you can only blame yourself. If UT goes 4-8 or worse, I can see him resigning after this season. He doesn't seem to have the patience to keep up this rebuilding process

Pruitt is legitimately dumb. I said he would fail as a HC when he was hired, and I was right for once

he's why some AD's hire only experienced HC's. not that that's a perfect solution but hiring co-ordinators is risky. even a HC at a smaller school has a resume that would reveal if he can handle certain aspects of the job. of course, some co-ordinations have great HC's (like Tom Herman) but he did have his stop at UofH.

Is Pruitt mentally smart enough to do it?

No and Phil is getting closer each week to taking over.

I know people who coached with him at Hoover, and they all think highly of him.

Pruitt’s head is not shaped to go completely bald. He needs to grow whatever hair he can. His head looks like a penis.

Kinda reminds me of Mike Dubose. He was a great D line coach, spent a few years as a coordinator, then thrown to the wolves as head coach at a premiere program. Not many can pull that off successfully.

People bitch about the talent left by Butch, but that's not an excuse to lose to GSU and BYU back to back to start the season.

That's straight-up coaching fail.

Yes, he produced good defenses, but it was always mostly with other coaches players.

What does it matter whose players they were? That doesn’t reflect positively or negatively on his coaching ability.

Pruitt is a graduate of the University of Alabama. So, there is a high probability that he is not very intelligent.

Pruitt isn't a graduate of Alabama. His degree is from West Alabama.
