Fulmer ruined Alabama football for the better part of 10-15 years for ratting on them for doing the same shite he was doing.
Are you talking about the 15 years between 2000 and 2015 when Bama won three natties, three SEC titles, and 10+ games nine times?
Or are you talking about the 15 years between 2000 and 2015 when Tennessee won zero natties, zero SEC titles, and 10+ games fives times?
I hate Phil Fulmer will all of my being, but it could be argued that he fricked UT over far more than he ever fricked Alabama over.
Alabama's 'dark years' lasted for AT MOST 10 years (three of them coming before Fulmer ratted). They included an SEC title, another West title that Bama was ineligible for, and three 10-win seasons.
Tennessee in the last 10 years has no 10-win seasons, six losing seasons, and hasn't sniffed a division title

my post implied no such thing. I implied that Fulmer told Pruitt he can go ahead and coach the playoff if he and Saban would like it. It is not a mistake to do that, because really there is no win in any of this for Bama.
He doesn't coach, and you have a new DC vs #1 team in the playoff.
He does coach, it is a distraction.

It was about six years.

10-15 years was certainly a stretch. Was that 2000? So he fricked yall are like 8 years.

I mean, yes. Fulmer holds all the cards for Pruitt. Pruitt's buyout can't be much, so if he really wanted, he could tell Pruitt to start coaching Tenner today.
Nah. It's been reported that Fulmer was against him staying on to coach at UA. So, it's pretty obvious Fulmer doesn't really have all that much leverage in this situation.

This is getting to be a yearly fricking tradition. Make the playoffs and lose a coordinator

I live in Tennessee and haven't heard those reports on local sports radio

Yes, but the penalties didn't start until 2002.

Maybe so. But if he is going to stay he needs to be fully committed to preparing for Clemson and if Bama is fortunate enough to get past them Oklahoma or Georgia.

First world problems. I guess the alternative is to hire shitty coordinators and not make the playoffs.

Tennessee has offered the job to Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt. The parties are discussing details tonight. A potential hang up is whether Pruitt would be allowed to coach Alabama in the college football playoffs.
Tennessee and Jeremy Pruitt continue moving toward his hiring as head coach

Particularly at point in the ongoing conversations between the two parties are questions regarding Pruitt’s obligations this month to College Football Playoff and Alabama’s participation versus Tennessee’s need for a head coach to hit the ground running immediately and without distraction upon being named. College football’s all-new early signing period which begins on December 20th makes this question of timeframes and priorities all the more important.
As I have previously reported, Fulmer wants to see a coach hired in time to begin making recruiting visits on behalf of the Vols this weekend.

Then like I said cut him loose. You're either coaching these players or not.
Posted on 12/7/17 at 11:36 am to TidalSurge1
I hope this is the case because with early signing period this will be huge.
If he is still a part of our staff he can not recruit players for UT if I remember correctly. This will really put UT behind and understand why this is a hangup

Or go to the playoffs and retain the coordinators, like every other team.
Everyone's just obsessed with Alabama and Saban. There have been 6 former Saban coordinators hired as HCs in the SEC in the past 5 years, and 4 will be HCs next season. The Saban coaching brigade will make up more than a third of the conference HCs next year. So far only Smart and Fisher have panned out

You need to change the thread title to "Pruitt will coach IN a playoff game instead of through. Because yall ain't making it past round one.

Tennessee will soon announce the hiring of Purdue coach Jeff Brohm after going 6-6 this year. Brohm was 30-10 at Western Kentucky. Buyout is $5 million, drops to $4 million Dec 5. Still owes Purdue about $750k for leaving WKY. — Jimmy Hyams (@JimmyHyams) November 29, 2017

Yeah, looks he was reporting what he was fed by the Currie side. It's likely Fulmer convinced Davenport to not spend so heavily on Brohm with a risk of him leaving later for L'ville. Davenport probably already didn't like being surprised by Currie bringing her that pricey Brohm MoU. So she nixed it.
