*I think Jimbo is still calling the vast majority of plays. Petrino calls a few during crucial times but this playcalling looks the same way it did with Kellen Mond.
Folks on here were predicting this well before the season started. Jimbo is Jimbo. He can't take a step back.
When Houston Nutt hired Gus Malzahn, under great pressure, we thought the offense would get updated at Arkansas. Within two games Nutt was basically calling the plays with the occasional suggestion by Gus.
Coaches like Jimbo can't give up play calling. He just can't.

We all know that Jimbo is still calling the plays.
Petrino with no hand cuffs would be extremely dangerous.

Jimbo gets fired next year after the loss at home to Texas.

I’m sure the seat is getting hotter, but I doubt any change is made before his top recruiting class graduates.

Contract is a sunk cost. Every year it only goes down about $10M. Is it worth saving $20M -$30M for another season or 2 of this?

AM would have to catch Jimbo and Bobby P spit roasting a Volleyball player to avoid that buyout.
What about a yell leader?

Well, that’s a mental image I wasn’t expecting today

Jimbo was paid $7.5M/yr for his first three years and then signed the $90M fully guaranteed contract extension.
So A&M will pay Jimbo $112.5M for a COVID Year NY6 Bowl win.
A game in which UNC's entire offense opted not to play.

You’re right!
People look at this like a bank account rather than through the eyes of a finance person.
This is a sunk cost and we are paying 10MM a year to lose. This hurts the brand, hurts recruits, and kicks the can down the road.
We can defer payments on the payout. It doesn’t have to be all at once.

I thought this might be the case as well until I saw malazahn’s offense as head coach at auburn.
I expected him to air it out wherever he wound up but it was pretty much what we saw while he was here.
