The background, the glare, the uniform, and the angle seem to cause a halo effect around the player's head. I just thought it looked kinda cool.
here's something similar from 1997 - Carolina at Tennessee

Good stuff 1801 .
Here's Homecoming 1929. Missouri vs Nebraska. I guess all the gents wore hats back in the day.
.
The 1929 Missouri vs. Nebraska Homecoming game, played on October 26, 1929, at Faurot Field in Columbia, ended in a 7-7 tie.
Missouri was seeking revenge for a previous year's loss to Nebraska, which had held the Missouri-Nebraska Bell since then.
The 1929 game was a tough battle, with both teams in the Big Six Conference.

The LaRon Landry gif?
I think that might be it! Only the gif you posted cuts off like half of waht I remember. When I first saw it it showed from the beginning of the snap and both LBs stunting then landry coming in last. But I'm almost positive what you posted has to be it.

Have always loved this picture. It seems to pop up on socials every year during Egg Bowl season. The composition is just perfect. The more you look at it, the more it sucks you into the moment.

Man - I was there for that one. Lot of us made the trek there - to be able to see one between the hedges - and it was a beatdown. Xaivier Carter kneeling on the one about sums up that entire game.
Of course we all stayed - most of us had traveled so far to see it - figured we should at least linger for a bit - the entire lsu seciton was haging out by concession area - mixing what ever we brought in - waiting for that debacle to end.
