Can you verify if this is Sanford Field (Stadium)? I think it's from the 20s. Some folks were arguing about it in another blog.

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about UGA and I can say with certainty I have never seen that picture before. I would be absolutely and utterly gobsmakced if that was sanford at any point in time.
Final verdict: absolutley not sanford.
ETA: here is a picture from the first game at Sanford in 1929, the layout doens't really lend itself to being the same venue in this pic and yours:

Thanks, finally found that original pic of a Herty Field (fwiw). Probably someone else's field/stadium. Great pic though.

A quick search on Wikipedia reveals that apparently Herty Field is where UGA played football prior to Sanford Stadium.

Not an Alabama fan, and not the most famous photo of that game (Teague was), but Lassic or Stacy flipping R Marley was great.
Go to 6:05 to see it. One pic can’t do it justice.
ALSO, Martin Houston Fullback crushed defenders Al night and makes me wish we could bring back dedicated fullbacks. But that may never happen again.

Interesting. Herty Field is where we did play before Sanford was built, and it exists in the current area of north campus that you may have walked through between downtown and the stadium. So that is a legitimate thing. However I've never seen that picture before which is surprising because it is so cool/unique you'd think more of a big deal would be made about it.

Thanks. A couple of people were arguing about the location, with one person stating there was no adjacent building at the time that provided that vantage point ... I stayed outta that one

I'm sort of partial to my avatar pic.

your picture definitely helped define things a bit more since we now know for certain that isn't the actual stadium site.
If that IS from UGA (herty field) that road would have to be modern day Lumpkin Street, which I suppose is feasible and not out of the question. I would just be shocked that the picture isn't more widely known. After a very quick 3 minute google search I don't see it anywhere else either. Where did you find it?

Other random pics
Tommy McDonald was a 2-time All American (‘55 & ‘56) a 6-time Pro Bowler in the NFL and is enshrined in both the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame.
In 1959, he was the only player to not wear a facemask in the NFL.
McDonald once said in an interview, “facemasks are for wusses!”
In 1960, the NFL passed the “Tommy McDonald Rule” requiring facemasks.
130 years ago: OU football won its first game in program history with a 12-0 win over Norman High School in Oklahoma City.
OU had no coach that season, as former head coach John Harts left to go prospecting for gold in the Arctic.

Do GIFs count?
If so, I always thought this was cool as heck. See how far #54 goes out of bounds before he touches the ground
