Why should universities and what we’ve known as college football, college basketball continue to be connected?
- when I last heard of a player being ineligible to play due to academic standing was ??? I don’t recall. Do these “student athletes” have classes they are required to attend and pass?
- at this point the universities are funding facilities, coaching, training, nutrition staffs, providing medical care, paying for facilities to train and stadiums to play the games in.
- in addition, paying players to play, paying them to come and visit.
-paying lawyers to deal with the ever increasing numbers of lawsuits
Why not disassociate the names and the of the universities from all these teams. Don’t pay crazy amounts for coaches and all the other “business expenses”. If some entity wants to organize, pay, train players into teams - have at it!
Universities can rent them facilities, rent them stadiums, trining rooms and equipment, everything those teams will need to get setup and running.

She’s known as the “baby giraffe” because of her awkwardness.

I like that he engaged with numerous fans. That was mentioned to him in the interview afterwards and he basically said he wanted the fans to feel more a part of what was going on because they deserve that.
One of the issues that golf/golfers have never done a very good job of. Occasionally a player or two the exception to that but, in general the players don’t engage with the fans. NASCAR has been the model sport for how to cultivate fan involvement. Maybe the new commissioner will focus on the fans instead of screwing up the season schedule.

Golden Flake potato chips used to be on Bear Bryant’s Sunday football review. Are they still interested?

Did Mark Mangino win one?
Conference members are now across just 2 time zones. Keep it that way with any new members.
No to any SEC expansion. Not needed…not a benefit to the existing conference members.
I don’t care for some schedules being much harder than other teams. The more teams added would likely exacerbate that.
I would hope not!

Ken Bernice, AU linebacker
Calling them “worst” overlooks one of the most splendid things to watch in all of sports. When a baseball team gets on a hot streak it is a beautiful sight to see! (Unless your team is next to face them)
OU is HOT! I expect them to win the Natty.

About how tall is Wes?
That’s what this thread needed - some real intelligence gathering!
Who is on Texas schedule for 2026? Any tougher than the last 2 years "soft" initiation?

Hard to imagine....Duke is playing away from home. Is this a "first"?
Messi or Ice Cube?? Which is biggest "world" star?

The point about “center of the conference schools” doesn’t mean much…football championship game being in Atlanta. Why not hold it at Globe Life and eliminate the rain and lightning issues?

I have had several occasions to spend a bit of time with this man…he is absolutely one of the nicest, easiest to talk with stars around. In fact, first time was at a gathering where my company had an appearance by Julius Erving - another tremendously gracious superstar- as the keynote speaker the following evening. My boss and I shared a table of 4 with Earl and Doc for dinner that night. Some great conversations and stories!
