Saban will pull bammer grad, REC kingpin and associate commissioner Mark Womack's chain at the SEC office and they will never let that happen. It would be an immediate recruiting advantage for AU having annual games with UF, UGA, and UT again and he'll have none of it. Those who don't understand how much influence Bama has in Birmingham don't understand the conference...and most member schools don't.

Then you lose Tenn-UF or Tenn-Bama.

Yeah we'd lose our auto win if UT got put in the West.

I would really like to watch us play Florida again every year.

Fellow Auburn fans- We know that Jay Jacobs does not possess the intelligence to pull this off. Just look at how we got reamed on our schedule of Amen Corner. Jacobs just bent over abd took it.

Was he the AD then? Please clarify.
I always thought Aub fans liked that schedule and was a source of pride.

Agreed. This makes the most sense geographically, for conference balance and for rivalries. Auburn gets to play UGA, UF, Tenn and Bama every year. Bama gets to play Tenn and Auburn every year and choose LSU as a perma. Opens up the possibility for Tenn and Ark which I know I would love. And we get to play the other teams more often, which lets be honest, we don't play each other enough.

Wow. What a fresh, novel idea.
Let's wait until we're sure the XII and ACC are completely stable and unpoachable for expansion first.

I would love for Alabama and Auburn to move the East. Alabama's permanent cross divisional game could either be State (most played team and closest in SEC) or LSU (obviously).
Annual games with Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee would be great.
Lets do it.

It's strange that some of you still think this.
(a) you already play Georgia every year
(b) you really think annual games with Tennessee and Florida will do ANYTHING for recruiting? And, if playing games in states helps recruiting, you would be losing your recruiting edge in Louisiana and Texas. So, it's basically a draw (using the logic that it matters at all).
But sure, continue with your cult fantasy.

Nine conference games solves the problem much more simply...

The next realignment we're kicking you out for a better team

Makes less sense to move Alabama though. Geographically more western, obviously. Plus, while Auburn going to the east would mean 4 big 6 teams on one side, if A&M ever comes close to their potential that would be a well balanced conference.
Anyway, I don't think it'll ever happen anyway, but moving Auburn over, if we could work out the rivalry and cross divisional issues, has always made the most sense from a geography and history perspective.

It does make less geographical sense, but if Auburn moves West we would have more history with much more of the East than the West.
However, like you said, none of it will happen.

The schedule every year now is away/away or home/home, instead of away/home. It puts us at a disadvantage. No one would really care about moving the UGA game, but that moron took a bad deal to keep it where it is.

Noone gives a single frick what Gus thinks. He'll be the first thing leaving the SECW. We'd really all like to see AU and it's trailer park fanbase just GTFO period.

Posted on 4/14/16 at 10:49 am to PanhandleDawg
The only way this happens is if bama goes east with AU. That way, the "historic rivalry games" that no one cares about but the 4 teams involved would continue. bama vs UT; bama vs AU; AU vs Ga; AU vs bama; UT vs bama. If bama was to stay in the west, then the league would have to go to a 9 game schedule to ensure bama gets to play both UT & AU. And the coaches ( excluding Saban) have been adamant that they do not want a 9 game SEC schedule.

We will eventually do away with divisions. Each school will play 4 teams annually (home and away) and then rotate 4 games against the other schools.
