Who’s arguing that Alabama is the top college football job? I know I don’t think it is. But it’s a top ten job.

But everyone is going to have a different list of criteria on what makes one job better or worse than the next.

And I was just responding to PB list and why I thought it was FOS. The "butthurt" you talked about came from Bama fans who had issue with my criteria.

And? We've beaten Ohio State for a few guys, we've lost a lot of guys to Ohio State. We're still getting talent out of Ohio and Michigan.

Agreed. It isn't Kentucky's fault that Ohio State recruits on a national level which opens up opportunities for Kentucky.

It also helps for Kentucky (Goodwin) that they can point to the Ohio State depth chart and the opportunity to play earlier and more often in their career.

Kentucky is doing a fantastic job recruiting Ohio.

LSU?

Peter’s a LSU grad. He wants to have the option of crossing back over the state line.

Texas was once a good job. However, dealing with the cesspool, nasty fans, boosters, and having to produce in the first year - no time to build a program. Sark will be gone after three years max

A&M has just as much money, better facilities, and we gave Sumlin a much larger runway to crash and burn. We gave Fisher a ten year contract! It’s a much better job

We love Ohio football. Hopefully our pipeline is now permanant given the top status the SEC has attained and Ohio State’s emphasis on national recruiting. Cincinnati could be a problem down the road if the new B12 pans out but we still have that SEC badge to flash to recruits. That and the fact that they can play in the best conference and still be very close to home.

TBH most of those old MF's have died off and there is finally a AD that runs the place like a business vs a Southern CC

And the reality is, there’s plenty of talent in Ohio. Ohio State only has so many roster spots. Snell, Bowden, etc. have been quality players from Ohio for us.

In no particular order, so everyone calm their tits.

1. Ohio State
2. Alabama
3. Texas
4. Oklahoma
5. Georgia
6. Florida
7. USC
8. Michigan
9. Clemson
10. Auburn
11. Tennessee
12. LSU
13. Miami
14. Notre Dame
15. Ole Miss
16. Georgia Tech
17. Oregon
18. Penn State
19. Florida State
20. South Carolina
21. Arkansas

These could all be arguably better than Texas A&M especially with Texas now joining the SEC.

I guess that works as long as you throw out all objective reasoning. Want to know how I know A&M is a top notch job? A&M has on at least 3 times been able to hire the absolute hottest coach in the country. They made Jackie Sherrill the first million dollar coach after he had consecutive #2 finishes at Pitt. They hired Fran from Bama which while it was a disaster was considered a massive coup at the time. They hired Jimbo away from FSU after several big programs had been trying to do so for years.

A&M has a virtually unlimited AD budget. A coach is paid at a super premium level, his Coordinators make HC money, his Assistants make Coordinator money. The facilities are absolutely top notch and all he has to do is dream it up and he will get more. Stadium is elite and consistently draws 100k plus. Location is right in the middle of the Texas triangle of Houston/DFW/Austin and it is the closest P5 school to Houston and it's 8 million people in the metro with high end recruits plus East Texas and can go after some Louisiana kids as well. Admin is extremely supportive and politics are minimal compared to other places. Yep, that sounds like a crap job.

BTW, I would argue that whomever replaces Saban probably has one of the worst jobs out there. They better get paid because following the GOAT at a place that also had The Bear is going to be impossible. It was brutal for all the coaches between those 2 with only Stallings having a small respite (but even his NC wasn't enough). Obviously it's a great job in every other aspect but the first man up after GOAT is going to be lucky to last 2 years if he doesn't win a Natty.

Kentucky?

Hell yes, Kentucky.

1. Mark Stoops is tied for 15th in salary at $6,000,000...with Harbaugh, Harsin, and Kelly.

2. Kentucky has a $165,000,000 football facility that's only two years old.

3. Stoops is currently ranked at only #91 on coacheshotseat.com. His fan base loves him, in spite of these records:

2013: 2-10
2014: 5-7
2015: 5-7
2016: 7-6
2017: 7-6
2018: 10-3
2019: 8-5
2020: 5-6

At Kentucky a coach can make a shite ton of money, be perennially mediocre with an occasional good year, and be beloved by his fan base. Why the hell wouldn't that be a top job for almost any coach?

edit: sorry, DrRC...I started typing before I saw your post. Coacheshotseat lists his salary at $6M.

And don't just downvote. Take a moment and make a case why that isn't a damn good job for 90% of the coaches in this country.

But that’s the thing. If Stoops left tomorrow, the next guy is not going to be given that level of patience. Expectations have been created.

Disagree. The next guy can have the same record as Stoops and he'll be just fine. No one in that fan base expects Kentucky to regularly beat Georgia, Alabama, or Florida. An occasional upset sprinkled win a win here and there over LSU and aTm and regularly beating everyone else will do just fine.

Tied for #36 nationally in salary at only $4,000,000.

That's what we paid Saban 15 years ago.

So no.
