I, for one, enjoy these threads and appreciate what you bring to the board... not that my opinion matters for much

Actual Big 6
As with a lot of these Big 6 stats it's starting to look more and more like Big 1 + 5 would be more accurate. Difference between 1 and 2 (much less between 1 and 3 through 6) is often as big as the gap between 6 and the little 8.
TLDR: Saban is ruining the Big 6.

Yes, it looks like Big 1 and the other 5. Bama’s dominance has really pulled ahead.

To be fair, LSU has played the 2nd most ranked opponents among SEC schools and 4th most all-time.
Georgia has played the fewest among the Big 6 in the SEC.
Top 5 all-time
Notre Dame: 314
Alabama: 309
USC: 308
LSU: 298
Michigan: 297

Thanks for the info. Very interesting and informative.
The last 15 years have been rough on the Vols.

Interesting. Here's another one for you....
There have been 595 AP Polls released for football in the Post Bear Bryant Era (1983-2018). Here is the percent of AP Polls each program has appeared in during this 36-year era (National Rank in parentheses):
1. Florida: 78.3% (4)
2. Alabama: 72.4% (7)
3. LSU: 66.9% (9)
4. Georgia: 66.7% (10)
5. Auburn: 65.9% (11)
---
6. Tennessee: 55.8% (15)
7. Texas A&M: 50.6% (18)
---
8. Arkansas: 28.7% (33)
9. S. Carolina: 25.7% (34)
10. Mississippi State: 22.2% (42)
11. Missouri: 17.8% (48)
12. Ole Miss: 16.6% (50)
---
13. Kentucky: 3.9% (76)
14. Vanderbilt: 1.2% (94)
There seems to be a lot more parity in the conference today when you focus on the SEC Post-Bryant.... likely due to the limitations on scholarships that kicked in around the same time.
Interestingly enough, if you compared those percentages to the All-Time Percentages in the OP, most every team has been ranked more often in the past 38 years compared to the all-time rankings.... showing how the SEC has gained respect in the lats generation compared to previous eras.
Only Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt have performed worse in terms of percentage of weeks ranked.
Also, this shows how much Tennessee still hangs on to the Neyland days to justify its inclusion as a major program. During the most recent generation, there is no doubt that the SEC really has a "Big 5". Tennessee comes in at #6, but they are a good bit behind the Top 5.

Great info. Thanks.
Also, did not expect Mizzou so low. Don’t know their history all too well either.

Georgia has played the fewest among the Big 6 in the SEC.
LSU has played the other Big 6 teams a lowly total of 265 times.
UGA has played them 368 times.
Like I said, LSU has played the other 5 Big 6 teams the fewest.

Well that’s neat.
But what does that have to do with playing ranked teams?
So playing an unranked Tennessee is more important to you than playing #1 Nebraska in 1976, #13 FSU in 1980, or #9 Virginia Tech in 2007?

Always enjoy your angles my man. Absolutely solid.
I haven’t looked too deeply into it, but I wonder about the different variables impacting Arkansas. I don’t want to be deliberately obtuse and claim “cuz dey joined the ESS E SEE!”
From 1936-‘91 Arkansas was ranked in 45.7% of all AP Polls. That was 12th best in the nation and trailed ONLY Alabama and Tennessee (among SEC schools) up to that point.

Nothing which is why I found it so weird that you brought that up in your initial response to me. I was pointing out that LSU has played the other Big 6 teams the fewest times of all big 6 teams which impacted the percentage they were ranked at in your OP.

Really? You said:
Your claim was the only reason LSU has a high percentage is because they played “Big 6” teams fewer times than the other “Big 6” teams. Inferring their schedule is easier.
I informed you that they played the 4th most games vs ranked opponents all-time.
You doubled-down by repeating your “times they’ve played a Big 6 team” like that’s far more important to AP Poll voters than playing a ranked out-of-conference opponent.
Now you’re trying to backtrack. Nice.
