Nothing is off this year.
texsa has lost 23 players to the NFL draft in 2024 and 2025. All of those players that carried texsa to a big XII championship and a playoff birth in year one of SEC play are gone now. Ewers, the pancake factory, all those WRs, Robinson, Blue, several DTs, DBs and TEs.
All gone.
People were delusional to rank texsa #1 and think texsa was just going to keep on trucking with that much draft carnage. It was never going to happen.

There is something to be said for a team that is pure desperation mode. Watch me look like a retard but I think Texas wins somehow

I agree 100%. Hawkins is a limited passer and OU does not have a run game it can fall back on like Florida does. I don’t like OU’s chances with Mateer

While all of what you said is true, there is still a boatload of talent on the team, talent that will most likely get drafted in the next 2-3 years.
Perhaps we are just young.

Bro, talent has never been the problem for Texas except for particular positions some years such as when UT went through a stretch without a viable tight end.
It comes down to a position that cannot be coached up and that is the coach himself.
Maybe Sarkisian will snort a dose of the magic dust and his play calling will improve this week.

They are a team that doesn't have it's identity or chemistry established yet. Some of the components are clearly not as good as what was lost, especially up front on the OL. They aren't close to their predecessors. And Arch doesn't operate this offense as efficiently as Ewers did, at least not yet.
This is exactly what a rebuilding year looks like after a ton of guys from a contender team leave over a two-year period.

Mateer is going (to play).

They still have the cream puffs Ol Piss, LSU, and the chumps from Bama. Texas might be their toughest game left

While all of that is true, Quinn would have already been hurt if he was playing behind this OL. The OL is the main problem on offense, but there are other issues as well.

OU cannot run the ball very well, and will be limited in scoring, especially if Mateer can’t go.
OU will sell out to get pressure on Arch, and Sark will dial up some screen passes to take advantage or a big strike score.
Texas is the more desperate team and will play more desperate.
Low scoring game that Texas wins 20-17
While Texas tossing screens might be a good idea...
OU's defense isn't going to get burned by that very often.
Where OU is vulnerable is receivers finding holes in zones. And Texas has some dudes who can get that done... That is where the screens might be most helpful. Forcing OU to respect the screen game and get guys open downfield.
To me this is a tossup game and the team that can string together a few big passes to get points is likely to win. It is going to be hard for either team to sustain drives against the other]s defense.

It’s a tough spot for Hawkins.
It is, but I think the "Mateer will play" is nonsense and gamesmanship. After watching the Kent St. game I am more convinced of it. The offense was as vanilla as it gets, I think they know Hawkins is playing and they didn't want to give Texas anything to look at.

It doesn’t take much to put Arch in panic mode, or at least to put our OL on panic mode.

Ok, I’ve heard OU’s DL is good. So if they don’t have to “sell out” - then they might be able to shut down Texas similar to how Florida’s DL did. I could see that
OUs DL and LBs are MUCH better than floridas. Lmao

Jason White could apply for a lat minute injury redshirt and we could still win. It’s OU tx.
But yeah, don’t feel great about it tbh.

Being more desperate ? Who says OU is desperate. This is the true face of whorns, 1 -2 yrs of good play then mediocre for 2-4 yrs hence whorns are always back.

I wouldn’t be upset if OU won… it’s just a prediction based on the circumstances. I could be wrong and OUs defense stuffs Texas.
But I just think it will be a close, low-scoring game where anything can happen. So OU needs to be able to score 21 points to win.
Could come down to one big play in the 4Q type of thing.

Minus the texsa weirdness, that is a damn fine post.

Really? I thought quite the opposite. Looked like they were throwing a ton of things out there. Same on defense.
