The day after news surfaced that former Oregon State baseball coach Pat Casey visited LSU and was a candidate in the school’s search, sources told The Advocate on Thursday it’s unlikely he will become LSU’s next baseball coach.
Casey, 62, won three national titles during a 24-year tenure at Oregon State, but he retired in 2018 with a complicated legacy after allowing star pitcher Luke Heimlich to remain on the roster.
LSU’s serious consideration of Casey as a candidate for the job raised concerns among many, especially those who advocate for survivors of sexual assault.

If LSU truly turned down Florida man then there was no way they were going to hire Casey.

Great news. McDonell would be a very good hire.

They're getting Heefner.

I love how the pedo is always mentioned but honestly worse that he ruined Abels career allowing him to throw 229 pitches in 4 days.
Hogs beat the Pedo, then Abel completely shut us down. Was not poetic justice at all.

Everyone has their opinion, I'll believe the folks who actually have sources inside LSU.

I don’t think an Arkansas fan should be pointing fingers at a coach overusing a pitcher TBH

Sounds like the hire was about to be made. News got out. And Lsu pulled a Tenn based on fan base reaction. I hope it’s the board or boosters ruining this because Woodward is usually so surgical with his hires.

I think that's what happened and if so, good job LSU fans

Based on what?
There's no reason to make a hire right now, LSU is still playing as are the vast majority of the coaches they'd be interested in.
Casey is retired, no reason to get in a hurry. Makes me think someone was getting smoke blown up their arse.

It worked, it killed another 2 days.
And got Pat Casey’s name in the news so that everyone now knows he wants back in.

I think a lot of people are. I like Kendall and he's usually pretty solid with his info. I know that Jordy Culotta and OTOP have some serious sources inside the LSU Athletic Department. Here we are and they all look they may have gotten something wrong here in one way or another. That just doesn't seem like a coincidence to me.

Why did Casey leave OSU?

“I have always expected that I be at the same level at which we ask our players day in and day out, and right now, I’m not sure I can’t do that, but I’m also not certain I can,” he said. “Therefore, I believe it is the right time to step down as head coach of the Oregon State baseball program.”
Looks like he may have the itch to get back into it now.
