If it is true that the LA delegation made calls, Sankey is the one who got "parented."
And as I have said, it might not be over for the SEC. The players might sue, the LA TRO is still in place and if the conference moves forward with the federal case, that could get really uncomfortable for the conference.

According to the SEC's FEDERAL lawsuit, LSU was actively encouraging and counseling professional players to file a lawsuit for more ametuer eligibility. Three players, one who dropped out of legal proceedings due to further employment by the NFL. The other two, a TE and a DT who no one would consider a "gamechanger" are left. LSU as let it go this far, with the possibility of the result being expulsion from the conference. These are facts.
All that being said, why would a sane entity push the envelope this far for so little possible return on risk? Do you really think a lawyer with the chops to be hired by the SEC would put that in the lawsuit if they didn't have proof to back it up? This is obviously an issue in regard to reigning in a program headed by a dude that is Hell-bent on testing the line to cross. This is probably why the entire SEC membership is lock step on this issue. They have most definitely seen what we haven't and knows what is there.
LSU is playing a very dangerous game, and most likely why the it's president is on extreme radio silence. He's not about to fall on the sword. The governor just wants votes, and the coach is a egomaniac with an empty, dusty trophy case and binder full of termination letters. Hitch your wagon to that at your own peril.

There a lot of very influential people in town for the Gator Hunt. Quite a few from other SEC states. Landry may have more stroke then I thought he did.
