The real problem is the Big 12 GOR. It doesn't matter what the OU president says, they can't afford to buy out a GOR worth more than $100 million.

Why would the SEC add Oklahoma? They add nothing and would take away revenue due to another portion.

They already shopped themselves around a few years ago and got shot down by a few conferences. Nobody was interested in the 7 TV sets in Oklahoma.

Neither has a following comparable to base SEC institutions. Outside of the six they are expendable. Great post to tag into BTW.

Pretty sure that puts them above the 50% threshold for adding new members. The main issue is their state size and compatibility with playing in the SEC as they look down and think the league is full of cheaters (browsing their fan boards) but potential border state rivalries with Hogs worth investigating.

You aren't going to get just one Oklahoma school. If one makes a move, the other one will follow.
For those who have no idea what type of fan Oklahoma brings...well, think of the worst rival fan you have ever encountered...multiply by a hundred...subtract 20 or so teeth, imagine State cowbells ringing, but boomer sooner instead...over and over and over and over...and over....
You do not want Texass in our league, or any league you give a damn about.
Texass is responsible for the SWC demise and is now responsible for the fall of the Big 12. If you have ever started a thread about your thoughts on Alabama having control of this league in football...you have no damn idea...Texass will teach Alabama alums in Bham new tricks...trust us and aTm...you want absolutely no part of anything Texass...

Couch Burners, Line Beards, and Taters are all much worse than Sooners. I think of Sooner fans like Vols fans but clearly not the worst in FBS P5 football. I think in terms of pure arrogance, Buckeyes are impossible to beat.

I think this describes a part of the Sooner fans who have hung out with Texas too long but we already have experience in dealing with former SWC and Big 8 teams in Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Missouri so it is not like we are totally unprepared.

Oklahoma fans are some serious cocksuckers that have no appreciation for friendly back and forth banter among fanbases before a big game.
All that being said, I'm still taking them over what we have already let into the conference in our efforts to expand considering their tradition and overall prestige.

1. This all sounds suspiciously like Boren's wallflower comments of 2011 or so. "OU isn't going to be a wallflower in this thing!" Then they decided to stay right in the stall with bevo. I'll believe they separate from texas when I see it.
2. One of their problems in 2011 was their political tie to little brother. Unless they can convince the Oklahoma state legislature to allow the schools to be in different conferences, any discussion of OU to the SEC is dead in the water. OSU is an anchor to boomer sooner. And something very significant would have to change politically for that to happen. No decent conference wants OSU with their abysmal academics and little brother share of all 100 TV sets in the great dust bowl to the west. There is no incentive for their legislature to make a change to their stance that I am aware of.

Posters saying OU and OSU will go their separate ways don't understand that the exact same BOR run both schools.
The probability of OU and OSU being in different conferences is way less than the probability of Alabama being okay with Auburn in the SEC east.
Add in the GOR's issue and it is obvious to see Boren is posturing. He can't actually do shite.
