It adds eyes from every Texas Longhorn fan in the state, and there are millions of them. Texas also has a massive national following. The SEC's TV deal would go up by A LOT if those two schools were added. Stop being dumb.

Eyes are good, but those eyes are all already paying in-footprint rates for the SECN, whether they're watching it or not, no? Where does the new revenue come from?

Let's establish some ground rules. Two things will never be banned in the SEC

1. Horns down hand signal
2. Defense

Are they still interested?

Why would Oklahoma want to do that?
Because if Texas goes they are fricked. Texas was probably like, we’re going with or without you.

Advertisers care how many eyes (or wallets) watch, not how many TVs get the channel

It would increase viewers, but no more money would come

You're incredibly ignorant or just hate Texas that much if you don't think adding a top 5 marketbale program to the SEC would have no monetary effect on the SEC's television deals. That's millions of more eyes on the SEC each weekend, which means more lucrative advertising spots for those games. This isn't just about adding the SEC Network to a cable package. That is a very short-sighted view. OU and TX, love them or hate them, are very popular, nationally followed programs. Adding those two programs would add a lot of monetary value to the conference. I said previously I don't want them, but to take it further and act like they wouldn't actually add any monetary value is just plain dumb.

Adding two new mouths to feed and hoping advertising revenue increases enough to justify the move, without the failsafe of enougg guaranteed third tier network revenue to ensure increased payouts per school, seems risky. Especially at a time when sports are largely declining in popularity nationwide.

The good news is that when the country splits itself apart we won't really have any college football interruption

We can just play international games against the Pac12/Big10.

Baseball, Basketball, and Gymnastics all elevate with those two in the house.

advertising, which is the entire point of ESPN paying the SEC what they do. They don't pay the SEC what they do only to spread the SEC Network around the country. There's a reason the SEC's biggest games are on ESPN and CBS, channels everyone already had, more eyes and more money for advertising.
