One could easily argue that the SEC broke up the SWC when the SEC poached Arkansas.
Likewise, one could easily argue that the SEC broke up the Big 12 conference when the SEC poached Missouri. Oh wait, never mind, that’s not true. The B12 is still alive and bigger than ever.

Actually, OU is a program that relies 95% on Texas, and was dying on the vine with them when A&M left.
We all saw what happened and it's why the two had to sneak into the conference umder the cover of night.
