Is the entire state of Tennessee making it's identity the folk hero of another state
However as a gesture of good faith — both to honor TEXAS LEGEND David Crockett and in preparation for a generational arse-whipping headed to Neyland this weekend — the University of Texas Board of Regents would like to formally invite Blount College to become it's first out-of-state institution!
It will henceforth be known as The University of Texas at Knoxville (UTK or UT Kux)

Most Pioneers moved from East to West back then.
Davy Crockett was a US Congressman for Tennessee and they have a statue of him in the Tennessee State Capital.
Maybe if he was smart and stayed East of the Mississippi he wouldn't have gotten slaughtered by Mexicans at the Alamo.

I have lived in Texas, going back to 1980. Sat through Texas history in elementary school.
I know David Crockett as a Tennessee man and have even been to his home town of Lawrenceburg, TN.

These people speak only for the tiny sliver of Texas around Austin.
