Been there many times, and I'm quite aware of the faux-elitism you can find on campus with its affluent families. What I'm talking about is the tacky way certain people act like they're superior to others because of these bullshite college rankings. It's so distasteful.

I think it is kind of cool in a way. Back when Ole Miss and Oxford were tiny, tiny... they developed that southern gentility thing.

You really couldn't go there if you weren't wealthy because you couldn't be part time or a commuter. There were no jobs to be had to work your way through school in a tiny town. There weren't student loans to the extent there were today. So it kind of developed as a rich kid's school/country club kind of place.

While all southern schools have elements of that. Basically that was all Ole Miss was back in the day... and while it is no longer completely that way... the tradition kind of stuck.

I see what you are complaining about... but I just can't take it seriously from them. After all... It's just Mississippi. In Oklahoma, we are used to Texans... who really take "being better than" you to heart.

Let's just let them think they are the coolest. What does it hurt and they don't have much else to hang their hat on.

BR seems to have a significantly high population of AA’s than Oxford.

Hmmm. Larger urban area appears to have have more black people than small rural college town. That is mind blowing analysis.

That said, LSU does have the largest black population of students on campus. However, both MS schools are also among only 5 schools with double digit black populations.

Note: Also, AU seems a bit of an outlier with 1 in 5 black AU students being student athletes vs traditional students.

KY seems most representative of state population with a high percentage of that population attending as traditional athletes.

Well, if you're talking how far along the bell curve compared to the locale, I can see it.

During the Ole Miss/Texas game, "This is my last post". Some theorize that he laid a bunch of money (to him $10 and up) on Ole Miss and was losing. But, anyway, he's arrogant prick and I just don't like him. My theory is that he hates OM because some OM guy took his girl and his lunch money.

All Mississippi universities have the exact same acceptance rates.

All you’re showing is the other schools have considerably dumber applicants, considering our States low standards for admissions.

But thank you for posting this yet again.

You clearly don’t know what an acceptance rate is.
