Ealy was the #12 overall player by Perfect Game and would have been a 1st round pick if he hadn't told teams he was playing football.

Compared to Mo Hampton who was the #23 player. His stats:

- 98.21% in 60 time (6.44 sec) Adv Ealy
- 99.44% in 10 spl (1.50 sec) Adv Hampton
- 96.68% in OF arm (91 MPH) Adv Ealy
- 95.99% in Exit Velo (96 MPH) Adv Hampton
- 92.64% in Max Barrell Speed Adv Hampton
- 92.39% in Impact Momentum Adv Hampton
- 83.42% in Max Acceleration Adv Ealy

no real point to the comparison just if anyone is interested

After seeing him throw a football, I can't imagine him being remotely accurate throwing a baseball...

Pretty sure Plumlee won't see any significant time outside of pinch running. Ealy will be in the OF rotation but not sure he starts at the beginning of the year.

The SEC Network talking point of Plumlee as a baseball player was so annoying as they talked about about him like some great prospect who will start immediately when that is far, far from the case.

2 damn good players

PG had Hampton as the #5 incoming Freshman, FYI. Insane how athletic those 2 guys are.

Ealy will be starting in Center against lefties this year is my prediction. Maybe he eventually takes over all time if he can really hit. He’s a freak athlete especially tracking down balls. He’s also a beast beating ground balls to first.

Most impressive thing about Hampton is he was in the cages every Sunday after playing a football game Saturday all fall. Then, a couple weeks ago when the football team was visiting the White House, he told Mainieri he couldn;t go because he needed to practice to get back to where he needed to be. Mainieri talked him into going and said he couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet the president and that they would find time to make up the work. Not missing a beat, he was back in the cages immediately upon his return to Baton Rouge that night. LOVE that kind of attitude out of a player (and the fact that Mo went to my high school )

LSU starting punter this year was a former professional baseball pitcher, and if you saw the fake punt where he tried to throw the ball, you'd think he'd never thrown anything in his life. The two really aren't all that comparable.

I wonder he can catch a pop fly in foul territory.

Ealy hit the ball well against national competition during the summer but his junior and senior year of high school he developed some bad hitting habits that brought his average down. They have corrected those and he has shortened his grip and he is hitting again like he was when he was considered one of the top prospects in the nation. In the scrimmage Saturday he got a hit into centerfield that was 99 mph off the bat On a nikhazy curveball which is his best pitch.

I'm sure he's a great baserunner. He's going to be a pain in the arse, football and baseball, for the next couple of years.

I watched Ealy play baseball at Prep a few times. He was about the 6th best hitter on that team. Granted, they have multiple SEC commits, but I was never terribly impressed with his hitting.

JRP not hitting, Maurice Hampton not hitting...Ealy hitting...saw Hampton at least a dozen times in HS - excellent athlete, but not "great' in baseball, but very good...Saw Ealy twice, really good, but can't comment on consistenty..played big ball circuit in Jupiter and Cartersville...JRP never was on circuit

Kinda figured that from his empty profiles

Still weird to me to see Cartersville listed in the same breath as Jupiter in terms of big event wood bat tournaments.

Makes me feel old - when I was doing all that the top of the line was Jupiter, Team One regional invites and trips to East Cobb and the tournaments the schools put on (UVA and Vandy I specifically remember playing in, maybe Tech too). They hadn't even started the Perfect Game event at The Trop yet back then.

My son played in Jupiter and St. Pete during circuit... including Cartersville because of multiple show case and invites as well as wcba

Oh yea, I know it's a big deal now with the giant facility they built. It's just wild how quickly that place became a magnet. I remember when they built it people were pretty meh on the whole thing, but boy they did everything they said they were going to do.

My summer runs were literally 15 years ago so many things have changed

John Rhys is a special young man. He will be the governor of Mississippi one day.
