That'd be a fricking stupid hire, not because of Beard's anger issues, but because he'd leave Ole Miss after one year to take just about any other power 6 job in the country.

ETA: Long story short this is really high risk for Ole Miss. They'd be better off looking for an up and comer that might get hot.
How is this high risk for ole miss? What exactly are we risking? Our bball program is last in history in the SEC

It's laughable to think a top 3 coach in all of college basketball is going to stay at one of the worst jobs in the country.

These dumb takes crack me up. “You shouldn’t hire a good coach because he might be successful and leave”
A low tier program should always hire a good coach if available to put the program in a better position. If he comes to ole miss and does well in 1 season we will be better off than if some scrub comes in and we aren’t any different next year.

Even if he leaves in a year he will make ole miss a better job when he leaves. Not hirijg a coach because you are acared he leaves is such a stupid mentality

Would be an outrageously good hire. There will literally be 0 easy games in conference next year. Please don't do it.

Leave it to the buckeye for the smooth brain comment.

Based on what? Pick a new school. Southern Miss or Memphis would be good for you.

Maybe I should have said Kiffin is no saint. There’s enough smoke around his past that at least some of it is probably true.
My point was that I don’t expect coaches to be angels, but DV is disqualifying. And to anyone saying if it was credible he would be in jail, well that is just not the way the criminal justice system works. Credible =/= beyond a reasonable doubt which is the criminal burden of proof. And even if that proof existed that doesn’t mean the victim will testify or the prosecutor will go to trial.

If we actually hire him, I will cum buckets. It will be the best coach we’ve ever had by a long shot
We are the worst basketball program historically in the SEC. So we can afford to take a risk like this
I'd take him at LSU.

Both Wade and Beard seemed destined for coaching rehab at a mid-major before getting a job at a program in a major conference.
A lot of mid-majors have better basketball programs than we do.
The records might be true but the conference in mid-major isn't full of winning programs. SEC is one of the toughest conferences around in those 3 major sports.

That may be true, but not many mid-majors have the exposure that SEC programs do. Not to mention, Sankey has black-balled coaching pariahs for less than what Wade is looking at

We have mid majors not even showing interest in out job. This might be the only chance for ole miss to elevate their program to worst in the P6
OM has nothing to freaking lose, just hire the man.

It was Neal Mccready, he is the furthest thing of an ole miss homer if that is what you are insinuating

I’m stating not insinuating Chris Beard beats women and has anger issues. It was sarcasm and irony.

quote:With the AD and Chancellor both being basketball guys (Chancellor played some college basketball and coached high school early in career) should be an interesting meeting from an X and O standpoint. But, if the guy actually put his hands around the girl's throat, that's a huge problem. She apparently refutes that now but if it happened, that's a stop in my opinion.
