Lol double overtime 54-48 with the worst OU defense in history. 31-13 at halftime. OU lost that game. Period.

45-34 vs Alabama the next year with a terrible defense.

An OU defense with a pulse wins both those games. And that won’t be an issue moving forward

Yet OU is O for the SEC in BCS, CFP semi's and any other game that has a chance at the NC. Once or twice is an exception, 4 or more is a pattern

You’re scared and you should be.

Oh child 5 different SEC teams have won NC in the last 20 years, with some of them winning multiple titles. How many has OU won during that time?

OU plays in a very weak conference and has had that advantage to win the Big12 and make the playoffs. How many playoff games has OU won?

Like I said, it is good you are defending OU, but reality is about to hit Sooner Land

SEC teams should spot us 10 points in every game in every sport. ...

Since we are not ready.......I am fine with that.....

That might be the only way OU will stay competitive in the SEC.

Dude. That’s just stupid. A&M just won the SECW in baseball. And in 2020 they beat every SEC team except for 1. And in 2021 they beat Bama and finished with a number 1 class. Granted they lost many games due to QB injuries, and they may not win the west this year, but they aren’t some school that fields bad teams.

They can definitely beat you. In any sport.

Will we this year, who knows. But counting A&M out is what you hope happens.

A&M has the talent this year to win against a ton of teams.

They need to realize that this was a baseball game, 14 hours from Mississippi. What is OU going to do when they are at home and the SEC fans come calling in football? Or worse for them, OU goes to Florida and LSU back to back, they have not seen hostility.

I went to Little Rock when Arkansas first joined the SEC, their fans were stunned

For baseball I will agree that OU does not support the program like much of the SEC

college baseball is not very big in much of the country mostly gets good support away from Pro markets and even away from AAA and AA markets.
(I live in Tulsa, the AA drillers draw more fans than any college baseball team for 70 home games a year, the stadium dwarfs Blue Bell)

OU football on the other hand has high support and travel in the top 25% of the SEC, OU will travel well to all SEC venues

Oklahoma is vastly superior to almost every SEC team each season, outside of BAMA/UGA/LSU on any given year.

Lol at this. Just lol.

A&M, Ark, Florida, OM, MSU, Auburn, Kentucky, and Tennessee do too.

You're still thinking of a conference as having a couple good teams at the top, and then a bunch of filler teams full of talent nobody else wanted.

That's the Big 12 model. Not the SEC. You'll learn.

OU will adjust to SEC quicker than Horns, because they have a better coaching and winning culture. Example: OU reaches CWS finals.

Horns will have more talent than OU, but they will not maximize performance because of poor coaching and entitled culture. Example: Aggies knock Horns out of CWS when Horns had more pure talent.

Same applies to both football programs

The SEC is top heavy, teams 3-14 are good-average-terrible. OU at the least will be in top tier every season. To say otherwise is foolish.

On this we can agree. This place can get very tiresome, especially in the offseason.

At some point now that baseball is over, the actual sports talk will drop off to almost zero, and this board will be nothing but the same basic trolls over and over and over again until sometime in mid to late August.

When that point comes, I'll log off until we get close to football again. My earnest advice to you is to do the same.

2022 246 recruiting rankings:

1. A&M
2. Bama
3. UGA
...
5. Texas
...
8. OU <- you are here
...
12. LSU
...
14. Kentucky
15. Mizzou
...
17. Florida
18. Tennessee
...
21. Auburn
...
23. Ole Miss
...
25. South Carolina
...
27. Miss State
28. Arkansas
29. Oklahoma State <- the non-UT competition you're used to facing in the Big 12 starts here, and only gets worse as you go further down.
...
32. Vanderbilt

Literally almost the entire SEC recruits better than the arguable #2 program in the Big 12. And the rest of the Big 12 is below that.

Let that sink in. 13 SEC programs recruit better than Oklahoma State, who will be the most talented team left in the Big 12 once OU and Texas leave. 13 of the current 14 teams. Everyone but Vandy. And Vandy is about in par with Okie State at 32. Still higher ranked than everyone else in the Big 12.

If you really think you're going to automatically stay head and shoulders above the crowd in the SEC like you have in the Big 12, you're the fool.

Exactly my point, OU gets top talent every year. We’ll be on par with the best in the SEC. That being said, it’s not just recruiting that is the deciding factor. Developing said blue chip talent for OU will keep us reloaded every season.

So therefore, the whole “Oklahoma isn’t ready for the SEC” argument is null and void.

As I said. It's not about what OU has. It's about what OU is used to facing.

But if you want to keep your head buried in the sand and believe the SEC is "top heavy" when literally every opponant you'll face in conference play right down to Vanderbilt is as talented or moreso than your toughest competition in the Big 12. Good luck.

I understand that. It’ll be way tougher then the Big 12, without a doubt. I believe my team will flourish, in response to the thread title. We can agree to disagree on OU SEC outlook.

Good Luck to the Aggies this year. May y’all or someone else dethrone BAMA…im getting tired of them at the top every year.

Oklahoma has about 41 ncaa championships. I think only lsu and Arkansas have a few more. So yes they will be fine in the sec.

OU fans are frontrunner in secondary sports. If the covid pause hadn't happened(ou had a Omaha quality squad) and last year not been terrible there would have been more feet on the ground in Omaha. If the baseball team has a regional type season next year and maintains momentum the frontrunner will come.

Not what your former coach said when comparing his teams to SEC teams in the playoffs. OU does not get the top SEC caliber DL and OL which is the difference.
