Does everyone think they are negotiating with big 12? Are they honestly committed to joining the sec?

I wonder who will be the coach at UTw at that point. Saban may finally come?

I think there's a 50% chance it doesn't happen and a super league is formed by that point.

It would be interesting to see if chokelahoma would come to the SEC w/o their little sister tu.

My guess would be that they would not.

tu would meltdown if that ever happened. They would make Chernobyl look like a campfire.

Too bad they can't remain off Tigerdroppings until 2025.

OU's previous president insisted OU & OSU were tied at the hip with regards to any conference re-alignment, not OU & Texas, so who knows.

And it's not shocking that the chairman of ESPN, who has a vested interest in OU/TX to the SEC, wouldn't divulge anything regarding an earlier-than-2025 move.

If they don't have the money, they don't have the money. I'm not going to hold that against them. OU isn't exactly poor, but they aren't exactly shitting on gold toilets either, and they never claim to be.

The horns, on the other hand, who have built their whole identity on being the biggest, baddest, richest, higest revenue stream, "we are the Joneses", athletic department in the country, being forced to admit they don't have the cash to buy their way out of a Big 12 that is beaing spearheaded by who now? Okie State?

THAT, my friend, is fricking hilarious.

Maybe they are waiting for the whole Texas exiting the United States vote. Texas could then claim a National Championship every year. I hope the SEC would have the balls to throw both uT and faggy out if those morons vote for this bs

Not sure what all the jibber-jabber is about. The deal the SEC announced was always for OU/TX to join on July 1, 2025, and that's what they've said from the very beginning.

Link: LINK

All of the early departure chatter from the BIG 12 to the SEC was just media speculation based on rumor mill gossip from water cooler conversations.

Also, it's sad that a television network is basically controlling conference realignment.

Agreed, but even if it wasn't a particular network, it would still be an oligarchy or some conglomerate of networks. This is all about money and eyeballs.

No one's ever moving until they are, but I'd be surprised if Texas and Oklahoma moved before playoff expansion.

There is constant messaging that Texas will not control the SEC, yet now it's Texas's decision on when all this happens? I don't think so.
quote:

But you may be right. Texas has their own bills to pay and losing to A&M on the national stage at the CWS might have given them pause. Just for a moment.
Come back down to earth. A&M doubled their win total at the CWS. Good for them. Texas would have to SWEEP the next 18 CWS's to double our total.

Baseball isn't a spec on the decision making on the timing to join the SEC.

There is another thread pertaining to Texas, OU, & A&M. The only way to ensure that Texas-OU in Dallas in October is preserved is for both to be in the same conference.

They are very good at business decisions

Thanks!

Things were moving along fine until the unfortunate temper tantrum. No Playoff expansion was a $100 million/yr variable no one anticipated.

Regardless of what Texas wants, their position is impacted by the SEC, Big 12, ESPN, and ??? all agreeing to the same thing.

Why not use the next two years to start recruiting as a soon to be SEC team and at least try to come in with a more competitive roster?
Or they could just make the jump earlier and get that arse spanked for those two years and possibly lose momentum with recruits.

He's just covering his own six, because the last thing that he wants to do is to drag ESPN into a lawsuit by the Big 12.

Era of the transfer portal bro. Kids go to schools for 1 year at a time.

No recruit who wants to play in the SEC is going to go to Texas or OU for 2 years just to maybe become an SEC player in year 3. If they want to play in the SEC, they're going to come to the SEC now.
