I really thought OSU would do well once Texas and OU left the Big 12, sad that NIL wasnt around during T Boone days as he would have made OSU a force like Oregon with Knight.

Thank you, Coach Gundy, for all of the good years.

I think OSU has one of the worst NILs in America.

I'm sure he'll take it like a man, because - well... you know

His buyout is $15 million which to some of us would seem to be a lot but kind of paltry next to some of the other fired coaches.

Dabo is coming off an ACC championship and playoff appearance. Gundy was coming off a 3-9 year. Not the same at all

Gundy wants to be involved in big-time football. When Texas and OU went to the SEC, he lost his appetite. He wants to mix with the big boys, and I bet he ends up coaching one.

Posted this in the other thread - but it's crazy to think that those seniors, when he gave that epic rant and beat down of that reporter, are now... *checks notes* ... 40.

Just poetic.

Also, one of those coaches that was involved in the many crazy coaching search shenanigans in Knoxville years ago. He got a nice raise out of it. We got another shitty coach. But all of those dark times led to Bobby Hill and some semblance of good football again.

I think he’s still a great ball coach. If he landed at an established program where the NIL stuff runs itself essentially, I bet he’d return to form.

If Dabo played in any other league besides the ACC do you think he would have made the playoffs last year? He lost 4 games.

I guess SEC Shorts was prophetic.

I remember attending OkSU vs Mizzou with Gundy at QB in the late 80s. Big 8 days for Mizzou, and Mizzou was really, really, really bad then. Was still worth the price of admission, mostly because of some guy named Sanders.

He strikes me as the type of person who would push back on any kind of forced resignation at the end of the season

I thought it would happen after the season.

My in-laws are OSU grads and they know the NIL scene is killing OSU’s chances these days without much end in sight. They’ve accepted that there isn’t much promise for the football team’s future in the current and future landscape with conference realignments and other changes.
