A Texas DT was called for holding while the offensive linemen had him hooked. The officiating was as bad as I have ever seen Saturday.

no controversy. Driskel got the ball hiked on time. No DoG. Refs were correct.

anytime the refs start becoming known by name that means they are doing a terrible job. They are over calling everything for every team. I would much rather watch a game where they let things go than a ticky tack called game. It works the same in all sports. When the refs start getting involved in every play it kills the watchability of the game.

So I'm wrong? From the PP7 interception call against Bama to the non-PI call in the Auburn game, LSU fans as a whole all have a hatred for refs that is unique to that fan base. I never hear the same level of bitching from any other SEC fan base regarding a single thing. It's strange.

LSU wins, still bitches about refs. Sounds about right.

The turning of the leaves, cool mornings, the smell of fireplaces and barbecue grills, shorter days, and LSU bitching about officiating. All of the signs of autumn.

Better? I'm sorry I misspelled Godzilla's place of residence and caused you so much angst on this fine Sunday.

I saw an LSU player hit the Syracuse quarterback 2 feet inbounds and get a flag, and I saw another player hit the qb 12 feet out of bounds and not get a flag. So much of it is subjective.

that one was confusing.

Its because he lost his helmet

You are supposed to disengage from the play.

Its because other teams can't hit you without your helmet, you can't hit them either.

What annoys me is that helmet got ripped off, and that apparently is ok

Well that would make sense considering you probably don't know much beyond SECr. I don't really pay a lot of attention to the refs, Auburn football sucks so bad it's blinding. Soft.

What about the TCU game? The refs gave TCU that game...And I was pulling for TCU.

The receiver trapped the ball on the two-point conversion pass that tied the game...And the game-winning TD, the reciever did not land in-bounds. His back foot swung above the ground but never touched.

Both play were reviewed and they still got BOTH of them wrong.

When I first saw this one, I assumed there must be some stipulation that the ball has to hit the ground first. But it is free game on a muffed punt anytime the receiving player does not gain possession on the initial attempt while unimpeded. Apparently the ref assumed incorrectly like me.

Fair Catch Interference

Obviously, I don't think this had any effect on the actual game but imagine if it were a 1 possession game between actually competitive teams.

Sounds like LSU should stop committing so many penalties.

Glad somebody made this thread. The NFL has become unwatchable thanks to it, now it looks like they're determined to do the same to college. This weekend was the worst I have ever seen.

He's talking about the flag on Debo for a late hit out of bounds that was clearly in bounds, also the QB was about to turn up the sidelines for about 10 yards or more.

No one is mad about the call on Neal without the helmet. Well we're mad, but it's the right call.

You are correct, I was referring to the BS call on Debo. You call that and you don't call ten others worse ? Use some freaking discretion so the game can maintain some flow and the dominant team is rewarded for their play. Quit the constant stoppage on every grey-area call, especially when it doesn't violate the spirit of the rules. It feels like I'm watching a government-regulated sport, there's so much "rules-formalism" and bureaucratic zeal.I want to watch some football, not have some auto-sales executive in a striped shirt all over my tv for four hours like some damn Nanny.

To be honest, all but two of the calls in the SU game were correct. Several were very ticky, but in the letter of the law. We just aren't used to seeing holding called on such marginal plays in the SEC, which is really odd when you consider that it was an SEC crew doing the game.

What got a lot of fans up in arms was that the 2 calls that were blown directly resulted in TDs for the opposing team. I'm pretty sure the PI call (which was a joke) was on a 3rd down, and SU wasn't even in FG range yet. The late hit call on Debo was also terrible. He was half a yard or more in bounds when he made contact, and the ref was right down the line with a good view. On both plays, the refs were in position to make the call, and just flat blew it.

However, at then end of the day, those 2 calls don't matter as much if LSU doesn't commit an alignment penalty that takes away a TD, and a couple of holds that kill other drives.

I'm glad this happened, honestly. The team probably needed to get knocked down a peg after the AU game. They still have a lot of growing to do before going on the road to play SC. Now they still have a week to work the kinks out. But getting hit with a ton of calls may wake everyone up. Then again, we're talking about Les Miles, so.......
