This season:
Florida 5
Vandy 2

Is that more than when Freeze got fired after Kentucky debacle?

I think we were averaging 1 per game to that point.

We’ll see if the OC actually wants to run da bawl this week. Seems like the offense always scores a touchdown after a few good runs.

Not if we run it up the gut for the first two plays of the first three series.

They have all seen what we see, we have to complete a couple of passes to get 8 men out of the box.....and they will be in the box to start the game.

Brown needs to earn his keep, and he aint worth the 1.5 million we supposedly paid him, not by a long shot.

You mean Gameplan Gus?

The offense also comes to life whenever 69 is on the sideline.

Not a TD and it was Vandy but the last drive counts to the good!

Did Freeze even have a chance to manage a victory like this?
Maybe Baylor last year.

Last Drive - 2 yd run, 3 yd run, 20 yd pass 1st down, 3yd run, 6 yd run, 2 yd run, 0 yd run, 21 yd run - that's how you do it! Obviously we can run somewhat and the line can block somewhat.

What if we would have at least attempted something similar first drive of the UF game? Minimum get to our 40 and punt them back to the student section. A lot different.

Just manage the game - at least at home where we have a top 5 advantage.

Our line is allowed to adjust and get a little better and a little tougher but this will never happen just throwing the ball around.

You are so right Carl.

Being able to literally run the clock out is progress.

Saw one of the Crain brothers say this but it makes sense. Why have a running qb if you're afraid of getting him hurt running the ball.

Personally I think there was some belief for Brown and the offensive staff that he could have a Heisman campaign or significantly elevate his stock for the NFL. Hence the heavy reliance on the pass, and Brown never keeping the ball on obvious read option plays.

I am HOPING that the start of the season will lead to some disillusionment and Brown and Co have woken up to the reality that we need to be doing what works, because trying to showcase his pocket passing ability isn't helping anyone out right now.

All that to say, run da damn bawl. Set up the pass with the run.

And bench 69.

I pray that isn't the case. If it were I would already be out on Golesh.

The goal is to win games, not be a platform. Most of the time when you win games you end up being a great platform.

We’ve had some success with BB running that kind of draw up the middle. Would like to a little more of that early on to try and loosen them up a bit.

I wish they would allow Gus in to teach them the outside zone read. Cobb and Brown are perfect fits for that imo

That with RPO was exactly what I was expecting this seasonl Instead, we get pocket passer Brown who holds the ball.

We are a tempo offense which means we quickly run it up the middle twice and then quickly throw a pick or get sacked in 3rd down, then we quickly punt for 35 yards.

I’m not a big fan of “tempo” all the time. If time is running out- of course you have to go as fast as possible without making mistakes.

If you can’t move the football, going at warp speed seems pointless.

I love tempo after first downs and actually think it’s worked well for this team. Problem is getting a first down.

I have yet to see much of an advantage in running the offense that we do.

I dont see us spreading the offense out leading the ball carriers with more space to operate. I dont see tempo affecting the defenses much at all. From our broadcast angle sometimes it is hard to tell they are spread out.

It appears to me when we actually score on a long drive (which is very rare) the other team has already laid back.

Of course the OL is probably the reason for both disappointments. I was hoping to be wowed or to get a wood...

Yeah, also to state the obvious, the offense you run massively affects your defense, both in practice and in games.

Oh well, we are held hostage for at least another year and a half.

Just for next year - gotta get a new QB, some new OL and at least some new receivers. Good luck with that if things continue like they are.

All the process talk, yeah sure thing, but a good portion of that was already in place with Durkin. At least not a total rebuild.

He needs to get at least 1 of the next four or be close in 3 of the four.

The offense has been a struggle no doubt… there are some signs like our ability to convert 3rd downs and creating some explosive plays in run game… but it hasn’t been enough.

I think with an above avg OL this offense looks significantly better… and I give the coaches credit for making personnel changes there to try to get better results… unfortunately for this season it’s not gonna be good enough up front.
