To believe that Saban has no integrity is comically misguided despite popular consent.

Are you talking about Nick (I will not be the coach at Alabama) Saban?

You forgot the Nick (I am not insterested in the Dolphins job)

What I find interesting about the Notre Dame coaching situation is the complete lack of any discussion about Nick Saban as a possible hire. The silence may be more telling than rumors.

I agree

Would you like to inform me what I failed at? I just posted something I saw. In which case I succeeded, don't be a tool bag.

The article says:
quote:

President Jenkins took me by the shoulder and as we walked away by ourselves he said "We want him to be the Leprechaun".

I jumped back a little in total shock, thinking of course that he was joking. Well, he wasn't.

His plan seems well deceived in that he will ask that Nick Saban wear the Leprechaun suit WHILE he coaches on the sideline. He said, "We already know about his language problems and he obviously has the stature for such a position...could there possibly be a better Leprechaun Coach?"

This sounds real official.

saban could bring back the biggest name in college football that brings in more money than any other program...he would be able to recruit anyone he wanted to nd...the schedule is a joke and he would have a much easier time to the ncg every year...nd has way more money than any sec team...they have there own tv station every weekend they are on prime time with millions of people watching all over the country....saban will leave at some point he has done so all his life and nd may be the perfect storm...do i think he will go this year, no, but don't count out saban leaving at some point...

Obviously BS, but welcome to life with Saban as your coach. This rumor, as funny and made up as it is, will be the first of many. Believe that.

And remember this, he's a damn good coach, but that makes him attractive. Dude'll win an MNC at Bama, next thing you know he'll go to Georgia just to feed the ego to see if he can win at a third school...all ego.

ND could offer 10 mil plus endorsements and other things which are far more cash than what Bama can do.

You don't have a full understanding of how much money the Alabama football program generates.

I think underestimate what Notre Dame can generate as alumni, not just a football program.

Wow did you think of that cute, tired cliche all by yourself? Saban will leave you gumbs stranded
on Christmas Eve. Do you really think Saban likes it in Tuscaloser?

I have said, I think dinky stays in turdtown. I do think he would entertain the ND job (one of very few he would entertain). However, I think the timing is not ideal. Dinky is not afraid to jump ship, but at Miami, because it was sinking FAST and at LSU, after he had accomplished something. So far at bama, he has not won a championship. If this were 2-3 years down the road and the dinker had a MNC and the fans were clamoring for a MNC yearly, I think it would be much more likely.

I don't think so for this reason. If there is any other fan base that would expect more than us in that dept, it would be them.

This may be a joke but you can bet your arse ND WILL be calling Saban once Fat arse is fired and ND WILL offer him more money than God.

IF he doesnt take the ND job, it will not be because of anything to do with Bama.

It will be because he doesnt want to hear the flack of leaving so soon AGAIN.

ND would be a dream job for Saban. Remember who his father was.

you just won the STUPIDITY award of the day.

He likes a challange.

Well hell, he ought to be perfectly content to coach at Bama forever if that's the case! Most of you seem to think we're just a bunch of 'tards dragging our dead kids around to Saban autograph sessions and that we're just itching to put a bullet into a relative whenever we lose.

What could be more "challanging" to Nick than winning 10+ games a year and being in the mix for a NC with a bunch of shithead, dumbass people like us?

Having been to Notre Dame/South Bend - why on earth would anyone leave any of the big SEC schools to go coach there? The only reason I can think of would be if the coach was from there originally, or played there. I can't imagine that Notre Dame would pay more than Alabama anyway.

whether the article was a joke or not doesn't really matter. ND would be stupid NOT to at least take a shot at Saban. He is a fantastic coach and he could turn their program around. You can bet they will make the call to see if there is any interest.

as for you Bama fans thinking Saban has any loyalty to the University of Alabama, you better wake the hell up. Saban doesn't give a crap about Bama anymore than he cared about LSU. Saban cares about Saban and the man loves a challenge. whether he takes the call from ND or not will depend on what he wants personally. loyalty to Alabama will play no part in that decision. thems is just the facts.

According to indystar.com, Alabama's football budget is approximately 42 million dollars, only two million more than the LSU football budget. Almost every delusional Bama fan believes their program has endless financial support. Consider that two other conference foes, UGA and UF, had larger football budgets in 2008.

According to some, Notre Dame's endowment is over 5 billion dollars. I'm not sure how much money is dedicated to the football program, but it's for damn sure over 42 million dollars. Also consider that they have an exclusive contract with NBC. While one poster was correct that the actual value of the ESPN/SEC contract is more, Notre Dame pockets all of the money stipulated in the contract. The SEC divides the money equally.

If money is the deciding factor, or prestige, you can kiss Saban good-bye.
