Down vote away but he is a legitimate insider. Sure that doesn’t mean a month from now this isn’t settled and we can’t get Lane or a big name. Just that right now it’s hurting us legitimately.

I have a weird hunch it’s Freeman. He’s not my first or second choice. I have PTSD from hiring BK from ND, but it would be a solid hire.

1. If your name is linked to a job, it’s because you at least allow your agent to link it. This is coaching carousel 101. Perhaps his agent is getting him paid and going to work the embarrassment of losing another coach to LSU angle. Or he is actually interested. You don’t see names if there is no one raising their hands behind the scenes showing interest. I also don’t see his name consistently linked to other open jobs like I have seen for LSU.

2. Josh Pate and all the hot boards have linked his name since day one. Which has somewhat baffled all LSU fans. It made no sense unless someone was actually feeding that to them.

3. Verge being made full time AD suddenly illuminated exactly where this Freeman smoke has been coming from the whole time. His name isn’t popping up everywhere. I think there is some smoke with Verge pushing for him and perhaps he wants to work for Verge due to the existing relationship.

4. I think he actually wanted to come here as DC in 2021 but it was very well known in agent circles that Coach O was a dead man walking and his family had no interest in getting caught up in that. Hence we ended up with no name coordinators.

This makes 3 different folks in the past 24 hours across 2 different messages boards with a track record of getting things right ahead of time all saying the Saban stuff actually has a chance.
