They've lost to Miami and Aggies. They have no ranked teams left on their schedule. They will probably win out from here with what would seem like an easy schedule, but their resume should not warrant a playoff birth. What say you?

They'll lose some more, but yes, regardless, they won't make the playoffs.

A 10-2 ND with a weak schedule will get significant consideration.

They will not be reeling off 10 in a row so we can quit discussing them now

It's Notre Dame which means the double secret probation type rules exist...they will get in with the 2 losses for sure...maybe even 3. It's science...

USC will jump into the rankings this week and that hype train will start, now whether they’re a good team or not we’ll find out.

This is exactly why they may still make the playoffs. SMU also lost 2 games to the only ranked teams they played. And that is SMU, not media darling ND. If ND goes on a 10 win streak the narrative will be all the improvement and "they are a different team than in September."

It’s bullshite - they shouldn’t - and any of our teams with that schedule damn sure would not

But bare min - they go 10-2 and they will damn sure be in the discussion

ESPN still has to sell soap - and what is gonna sell more ads 10-2 Notre dame against a week schedule or 10-2 whoever who maybe beat a few ranked opponents - maybe on road?

shite Aggies should not just be happy for beating a ranked nd in their place - they now get into the sphere of influence - regardless of how they do rest of season they will have to get propped up to ensure the ND illusion

10-2 most likely gets them in

If Notre Dame runs the table, the committee will put them in. If by chance they do not you will see massive a outcry from the media for a change to the system and it will get changed.

This is why the whole system was put in place so it could be manipulated. That is why they hated the BCS, because it couldn't be manipulated.

At 10-2, the money and media will put them in the playoffs.

ND will be in the playoff every year. Its not a 12 team playoff because there are only 11 slots available.

ND can go 8-4 and they will be in. Its just good business and thats all this is..

^^^^^^^^^^ That right there. The BCS did not bend to the AP so the AP left the equation. Then 7 consecutive SEC championships, and 2011 in particular with 2 SEC teams, caused a 4 team playoff…

ETA: now it’s all about manipulation for money, and they’re not even trying to hide it.

Of their remaining games USC and Arkansas are legitimately their toughest opponents.

If they go 9-3 and the committee is honest about the new emphasis on SOS then they won’t be in the playoff. They win their next 10 straight though perhaps they deserve a bid. Defending championship game participants and played a elite Miami and good A&M team to the wire
