UNC brings in $67.2m in football revenue. NC State brings in $77m. UNC bring in $31.2m in basketball revenue, while NC State brings in $19.5m.

UNC total big two revenue is $98.4 to NC State’s $96.5m.

Among the SEC, only Vandy has a smaller stadium than these schools.

But, NC State is more passionate about football (which has more upside potential) and football will never supplant basketball at UNC

When I was in third grade, I remember having an embarrassing moment where I'd forgotten how to spell "if" in class.

I can't imagine being however the frick old you are and not knowing the meaning of the word.

We need to just get this over with. Power4 will be two super conferences like the NFL.

But only the blue bloods of the ACC and Big12 should join the super conference.
Let the other D1 schools have their own tournament for extra excitement

“If” I said the following, which I wouldn’t, by the way:

“If we had to take Colorado to the sec”

Then provide a reason, like you did (to preserve the rivalries)”we need Deion.”

I’d come across as sounding like you…..a complete idiot. The board would trash me as well.

But I’m not you. And I’m thankful for that.

Just not that important. UVA (and others) have better athletics, academics, more money, more political influence, etc. I don’t see how any SEC or B1G university president would prefer VT over UVA (or FSU, Miami, or Clemson) with those factors in mind, and I think VT could easily also slot behind NCSt, GT, and even the SMUs, and TCUs of the world depending on the criteria.

It’s not 2005 anymore, and UVA and UNC would both be more attractive even in 2005. There’s a reason the VA Legislature had to strong arm the ACC into taking VT even in the Vick/Beamer era.

Fox cbs and Ohio st are supposedly pressing the big ten presidents over Clem fsu Miami. Fox is getting pressure from Ohio st and cbs bc Osu is sick of getting stuck with the big noon kick off thus never having nightgames. CBS is upset with lackluster brand names for 3:30(bad ratings). They’re argument is cal Stanford gt uva unc duke etc won’t fix that problem for them.

It’s best to take the three schools tied to your current conference membership. GT, Clemson and FSU. You get the full credit ($) for the rivalry matchups and it clears scheduling hurdles for future changes. Those three will also allow geographic rivalries to grow with existing SEC members like Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina.

The ACC missed in its expansion by passing on West Virginia. Natural matchups with Pitt and Virginia Tech. History playing Syracuse and Boston College. A move into North Carolina or Virginia does the same unless the conference takes two schools from each state.

Sigh.

We are stripping everything out of college football that made it unique. We are going to end up with a shittier version of the NFL.

UVA just lost their baseball coach to Mississippi State and their Basketball Coach quit right before the season started. Their athletics are a mess right now. If football drives the revenue then UVA is a terrible choice. Your other observations are true, but VaTech is much better academically than many realize.

This is true, and their athletic program is still better than VT’s.

VT has never won an NCAA team national championship in any sport. I loathe UVA’s attitude as a university, but from an objective standpoint they are a much more complete package.

Agree to disagree. Since they joined the ACC Va Tech is 19-1 against Virginia in football. Vandy does better against TN.
